Job Description

Shift Details:
1st Shift — 6:30 AM to 3:00
PM Job Summary:
This position requires performing a wide variety of assembly and test operations safely and efficiently while maintaining production standards. Responsible for preparation and cleaning of project components, and the assembly of new projects and projects in need of repair. Set up and test valves or pumps under pressure, record data in the computer program, and prepare completed units for shipment.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Perform testing and assembly tasks as instructed by Shop Leads or Operations Manager Maintain a clean and safe work environment Perform diversified assembly and test operations to assemble highly intricate and/or large and expensive precision apparatus, machines and equipment having critical tolerances and strict inspection/testing requirements. Aid in the planning of assembling and testing procedures; instruct and check work of Assemblers of lower classification and General Laborers. Complete skilled fitting, aligning, adjusting and secondary machining of product. Perform complex testing procedures of sub-assemblies and units. Work from complicated assembly drawings and specifications. Use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments and gauging devices. Completed assemblies are subject to inspection and test. Perform light preventative maintenance and housekeeping duties for areas and equipment in assigned work center. Set-up and operate without assistance test stand equipment for all products in grade Produce quality assemblies and attain a working knowledge of possible defects or malfunctions and take corrective action as required. Fully understand and comprehend the assembly of sub-assemblies, the final assembly and testing of so that the engineering performance specifications are satisfied in all areas. Maintain or exceed the approved rate of production. Maintain acceptable attendance record, acceptable overall work record, and purchase the required tools for the classification. Complete training in all production areas. Complete paperwork and records in a timely manner. Support inventory accuracy. Maintain clear communication with next shift. Report defective materials or questionable conditions per established processes. Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations. Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per P.M. charts. Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervision or Management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to use a variety of precision test equipment, measuring instruments and gauging devices. Must have demonstrated ability to perform inspection and testing, and adhere to production and quality standards and drawing specification of final and sub-assemblies. Demonstrated ability to trouble shoot quality, product, or production issues and provide recommendations for resolution. Requires a moderate degree of skill and assembling technique. Experience and knowledge of basic mechanical principles, testing procedures, basic hydraulics. High School Diploma or GED, with above average mechanical ability. Ability to read, comprehend, and follow processes, procedures and policies. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with coworkers, supervision, and management. Must be able to meet physical demands, with or without accommodation. Must be able to work any assigned shift
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
Work performed in a shop environment. May work at different workstations as production needs require. Exposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, odors and fumes. Standing entire shift. Lift up to 50 lbs. Bending and stooping throughout shift. Ability to work at heights using a standard 6-8 foot step ladder as needed. Ability to operate material handling equipment, such as hoist, positioners, pallet jacks, fork trucks, etc. Must be able to lift, push, and pull materials and equipment to complete assigned tasks .
Training Requirements:
General safety training. Safety training as required by customers. ISO 9001 and applicable processes and procedures. Forklift certification. Overhead crane certification. Lockout/tagout training.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Safety glasses. Steel-toe or composite-toe shoes.. Hard hats May require other PPE, such as gloves, goggles, shields, aprons, etc, while performing specific tasks The Oilgear Company is an at-will employer.
