Assembler/Fabricator Job Description The Assembler/Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and finishing sheet metal components and assemblies according to blueprints, shop drawings, and work instructions. This role supports production by operating fabrication equipment, performing fit‑up and assembly, and ensuring finished products meet quality and safety standards. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, work orders, and specifications to determine fabrication and assembly requirements Lay out, cut, form, and assemble sheet metal components using hand tools and shop equipment Operate fabrication equipment such as shears, press brakes, rollers, punches, saws, and drills Perform mechanical assembly using fasteners, rivets, bolts, screws, clips, and adhesives Perform grinding, deburring, filing, and finishing to ensure clean edges and proper fit Assist with welding, brazing, or spot welding as required (based on skill level) Inspect parts and assemblies for dimensional accuracy, workmanship, and conformance to specifications Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards Work collaboratively with shop supervisors, welders, and other fabricators to meet production schedules Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in assembly, fabrication, or manufacturing. Ability to read a tape measure and follow instructions accurately. Comfortable working in a shop environment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. Work Environment Our facility is a climate-controlled, small job shop environment where employees are expected to maintain safety and cleanliness standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ladson, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
