Architectural Aluminum Fabricator 3004 Mine Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22408 $26.91 - $34.81 an hour - Full-time, Internship $26.91 - $34.81 an hour - Full-time, Internship Overview Join our dynamic team as an Architectural Aluminum Fabricator and bring innovative building designs to life! In this vital role, you will be responsible for transforming raw materials into high-quality aluminum components used in modern architectural projects. Your expertise will help shape impressive facades, windows, doors, and curtain walls that define contemporary structures. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge fabrication techniques in a fast-paced manufacturing environment dedicated to precision and excellence. Duties 1. Reading and interpreting shop drawings Read fabrication drawings, elevation plans, and cut lists accurately. Understand dimensions, profiles, hardware locations, glazing details, and assembly sequences. Verify materials and parts before starting fabrication. 2. Fabricating aluminum window and door systems Cut aluminum profiles to exact dimensions. Machine, drill, notch, punch, and prep materials for assembly. Assemble frames, vents, sashes, doors, and related components. Install gaskets, insulation, brackets, reinforcement, and hardware as required. Ensure units are square, level, and built to spec. 3. Curtain wall fabrication Fabricate curtain wall frames, mullions, transoms, anchors, and pressure plates. Prepare and assemble stick-built or unitized curtain wall components based on project needs. Follow system details for drainage, thermal breaks, joint alignment, and structural requirements. Verify correct placement of clips, anchors, splice sleeves, and sealant areas. 4. Glazing and gasket installation support Assist with glazing preparation and glass setting when needed. Install glazing gaskets, wedges, setting blocks, and sealants properly. Make sure all assemblies are weather-tight and ready for field installation. 5. Hardware and accessory installation Install locks, hinges, closers, handles, pivots, panic hardware, and other accessories. Confirm hardware functions properly before units leave the shop. Coordinate hardware prep with project requirements. 6. Quality control Check measurements, tolerances, alignment, finish condition, and overall fit. Inspect fabricated units for scratches, dents, missing parts, or incorrect machining. Confirm finished product matches approved shop drawings and project specifications. Report fabrication issues before shipment. 7. Material handling and shop organization Safely move profiles, frames, glass, and fabricated assemblies. Keep workstations clean and organized. Label fabricated components clearly for shipping and installation. Help stage materials by project and installation sequence. 8. Use of fabrication equipment and tools Operate saws, punches, drills, routers, CNC machines, and hand tools safely. Maintain tools and report equipment issues immediately. Follow all shop safety procedures and PPE requirements. 9. Coordination with shop and field teams Work closely with shop foreman, project managers, installers, and quality control staff. Communicate shortages, fabrication errors, or drawing conflicts quickly. Support urgent fabrication needs to keep projects moving on schedule. 10. Productivity and deadline support Meet production goals for summer workload. Prioritize rush jobs and high-value project deadlines. Be flexible to work on windows, doors, storefront, and curtain wall as needed.
