SUMMARY:
The Plant Manager will direct all plant operations through a team of functional managers and supervisors to ensure safety, operational, financial, and customer service goals and KPI's are met while improving the efficiency of the workforce, employee engagement, materials, and machines. This person must also be hands-on, and willing to roll up their sleeves.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following and other duties may be assigned: Champion safety within the plant, ensuring the use of proper safety equipment, methods, and behaviors to build a safety culture. Ensure that plant personnel and operations comply with all company safety programs in addition to all OSHA regulations. Provide effective leadership to enable the plant team to continuously improve KPI's including but not limited to production efficiency, output, quality, and on-time delivery to meet business objectives and exceed customer expectations. Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions and counter measures to meet objectives and KPI's (production, quality, safety, delivery, 6S, etc). Track results and provide analysis to drive future improvements. Develop and coach managers, supervisors, and other personnel in their roles. Hire and train employees, write or review performance appraisals, and administer corrective action when appropriate directly or through subordinates. Provide input and support for succession planning and employee development. Proactively take actions to minimize scrap, customer returns, and direct teams to ensure that quality indicators and requirements are tracked and up to date. Develop spreadsheet applications for QC and initiatives to improve monitoring of plant processes. Work closely with other company functional experts to learn, install, and implement company processes. Use Lean methods to drive continuous improvement and the optimization of all processes. Ensure improvements are effectively implemented and sustained. Hands-on supervisor and leader. Ensure effective training programs are developed and implemented for the production personnel, safety compliance, and SOPs. Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot creatively, solve problems effectively, and make informed decisions while successfully guiding others through constant change. Maintain cleanliness and use of equipment and facility, creating the expectation and implementation for all employees in this area. Work closely with other company functional experts to learn, install, and implement company processes. Potentially participate with the local / regional Workforce Development boards to build a lasting working relationship. Complete special projects and other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Proven work experience in a plant leadership role. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing operations management. BS Degree in business management or related field, preferred. Demonstrated leadership ability to drive change, improvement, and meet productivity expectations. Excellent interpersonal communication, analytical, change-management, and PC skills required. Must be a dynamic leader who is an active leader and participant for positive change and continuous improvement. Strong Lean manufacturing experience with a track record of effective implementation of CI tools, methods, and projects. Ability to hold others accountable and to effectively direct and coach the activity of others. Ability to work and lead others, and being aligned with other corporate organizational and functional expertise. Proven managerial experience & adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning and resource allocation). Must be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, and inventory processes.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to office, warehouse, and plant environments. The work environment will require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in certain areas. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
