POSITION SUMMARY
The Plant Manager is responsible for leading all manufacturing operations at Good Fellas Industries (GFI), ensuring every window treatment and upholstered product is produced to spec, to standard, on time, and with high quality. This role oversees all production departments, workflow, scheduling, quality control, labor efficiency, accountability, and coordination with Project Management, Purchasing, Engineering, and Shipping. This position is central to building culture, establishing procedures, enforcing accountability, and driving continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Leadership & Workflow Oversee daily operations across cutting, sewing, hardware, assembly, QC, and shipping prep. Maintain production schedules aligned with project timelines. Optimize labor, machines, and workflow to eliminate bottlenecks. Ensure Work Orders, BOMs, and job packets are accurate and complete. Open the plant at the start of the day and/or close the plant at the end of the day as needed. Quality & Standards Enforce GFI quality standards at every stage of production. Reduce defects, rework, miscuts, and remakes. Ensure all products meet specifications before QC and shipping. Team Management & Development Lead, train, and mentor supervisors, leads, and production staff. Build a culture of respect, teamwork, and accountability. Conduct evaluations, coaching, and corrective actions. Procedures & Continuous Improvement Develop, document, and enforce SOPs for every department. Implement Lean practices (5S, visual controls, flow optimization, continuous improvement). Reinforce process discipline across the plant. Cross-Department Collaboration Coordinate with Project Management on priorities and scheduling. Work closely with Purchasing on material readiness. Collaborate with Engineering/Estimating to resolve specifications and technical issues. Coordinate with Shipping to ensure accurate, on-time delivery. Safety, Labor & Compliance Maintain a safe, clean, and organized facility. Ensure compliance with all California labor and safety standards. Manage labor allocation, overtime needs, and productivity. Reporting, KPIs & Accountability Track and report daily production numbers and output. Monitor KPIs including on-time completion, throughput, rework percentage, labor efficiency, and material usage accuracy. Identify risks and improvement opportunities and escalate to the President. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt required — must provide proof of certification. Bilingual English-Spanish required. Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing leadership. Strong knowledge of workflow, scheduling, and production management. Proven ability to enforce procedures and accountability. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in textiles, upholstery, furniture, or window treatment manufacturing. Experience with ERP systems (Acumatica or similar). Prior experience in continuous-improvement environments.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be willing to open and close the operation as required. 100% onsite in a 40,000 sq-ft manufacturing facility. Full-time position; extended hours may be required based on production needs.
