We design and source a curated catalog of high-quality components — from precision hardware to engineered plastic and metal parts — and sell almost exclusively online to an enthusiastic global customer base. We're on a clear growth trajectory and this role is central to getting us there. The Role You'll own the full procurement and supply chain operation — from finding and negotiating with manufacturers to timing shipments around our cash flow. You'll serve as the key liaison between internal operations and our external supplier and manufacturing partners, reporting directly to ownership. This isn't a passive purchasing role. You'll make real decisions that affect our margins, inventory health, and customer satisfaction. You need to know when faster shipping is worth the premium to protect a sales window, and when to hold the line on cost. That judgment is core to this job. What You'll Own Sourcing & supplier management Manage day-to-day communication with our supplier and manufacturer network Lead RFQ processes: solicit quotes, evaluate suppliers on cost, quality, lead time, and reliability Negotiate pricing, MOQs, payment terms, and production timelines to ensure favorable terms and risk mitigation Build and maintain strong supplier relationships; identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers as the catalog grows Conduct regular supplier performance reviews — tracking on-time delivery, quality consistency, and responsiveness — and use that data to make vendor decisions Manufacturing & PO management Create and manage purchase orders for new and existing products; track production milestones and flag delays proactively Coordinate with our engineering contractor when manufacturers require technical drawings, tolerances, or CAD revisions during production Monitor manufacturer performance against key metrics: on-time delivery, quality deviations, and responsiveness Act as the primary point of contact for our outsourced manufacturers: overseeing production timelines, order processing, and delivery schedules Evaluate cost-versus-speed tradeoffs on urgent restocks — know when expedited air freight protects sales momentum and when surface freight is the right call Inventory & demand planning Use sales data, demand projections, and market signals to set reorder points and quantities per SKU Work with ownership and the operations team to align procurement with forecasted demand, product launches, and promotional windows Incorporate weekly customer feedback summaries from customer service into sourcing and inventory decisions Implement and maintain safety stock policies to prevent stockouts on key SKUs Identify slow movers and overstock risks; flag for pricing or marketing action before they become a cash flow problem Perform regular reconciliation and root cause analysis of inventory variances Work towards establishing automated reordering and work orders Logistics & international freight Work with our freight forwarders to coordinate all inbound sea and air freight shipments Consolidate supplier orders strategically to reduce per-unit landed cost Apply knowledge of Incoterms to structure supplier agreements and manage risk appropriately Monitor shipping costs, lead times, duties, and freight options; optimize consolidation opportunities across multiple supplier orders Track and resolve shipping discrepancies, damage claims, and supplier delivery issues Sync shipment timing with cash flow in weekly budget reviews with the owner Rate shopping for brokers/compare market freight rate/optimize cost Data, compliance & admin Maintain clean, accurate PO records, supplier data, and procurement documentation Schedule supplier payments in our project management tool aligned to production milestones and cash flow Ensure supplier agreements, contracts, and certifications are documented and current Support any quality or compliance reviews by providing the necessary supply chain documentation and traceability What We're Looking For Required 3+ years of progressive experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain in a relevant industry — automotive, hardware, machinery, plastics, metals, electronics, or similar manufactured goods Hands-on experience working with suppliers and manufacturing — you understand how factories operate, how samples get approved, how production timelines slip, and how to manage it all from a distance Solid understanding of international freight: Incoterms, freight forwarding, customs processes, and sea vs. air tradeoffs Proven negotiation skills — you can evaluate a quote quickly, push back on unfavorable terms, and close at the right price without damaging the relationship Experience managing supplier performance using data: on-time delivery rates, quality deviations, lead time trends Highly organized and detail-oriented; comfortable managing multiple open POs simultaneously without anything falling through the cracks Analytical and data-driven decision-making — you can read the inventory numbers and make a confident call
