Job Description:
My client, a manufacturing company, is looking for a Process Improvement Project Assistant Plant Manager. They are located in Doraville and will be on site 5 days a week. Continuous Improvement / Production Engineering Project Lead This role drives operational excellence and continuous improvement in a chemical manufacturing environment while supporting plant-level engineering projects. The position serves as a development pathway to Production Engineer or Plant Manager and requires a strong blend of lean manufacturing expertise, project management, and hands-on process optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and value stream mapping to enhance production efficiency, quality, and cost performance. Manage cross-functional projects to design, install, and optimize manufacturing systems, including filling, mixing, conveying, and packaging operations. Conduct root cause analysis and performance reviews to identify inefficiencies and implement sustainable solutions. Support implementation of automation, data collection systems, barcoding, and electronic batch records to improve process visibility and control. Partner with supply chain, quality, and operations teams to improve scheduling, KPI tracking, and overall plant performance. Assist with implementation of facility and process improvements (e.g., cleaning systems, material handling, labeling, and production tracking systems). Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, RCRA, DOT Hazmat, EPA). Contribute to quality management systems and technical documentation, including standard operating procedures and reports.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. 5-15 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, preferably in batch chemical processing and packaging. Lean and/or Six Sigma certification with demonstrated application experience. Strong project management and analytical skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams. Knowledge of industrial automation, instrumentation, and basic electrical systems. Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., aerospace, chemical manufacturing) and quality systems. Working knowledge of safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, RCRA, DOT Hazmat, EPA). Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
