Job Description
General Manager, Trucks Division Reports to:
Executive Vice President SUMMARY:
The Satellite Trucks General Manager plays a key leadership role at Satellite. This position directs, manages, and optimizes the overall operations and financial performance (P&L) of the business unit according to company policy and procedures.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for manufacturing operations, policy and procedures, production goals, and fostering a well-trained and motivated staff
- Implements policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency
- Systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals
- Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement
- Ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet regulatory requirements including:
OSHA, DOT, EPA
- Oversees multi-functional plant teams including production, warehouse, operations, and logistics
- Directs the implementation of process improvement initiatives including, but not limited to, 6S and Lean Manufacturing, SOP development and tracking, and site tiger teams
- Directs the management of leadership team to ensure business unit success
- Confer with matrixed department heads to ensure coordination of the full order to ship lifecycle
- Warranty and post-delivery repair experience
- Perform other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the direction and management of all subordinate leadership and teams in a manner consistent with, and within Satellite policies and Satellite Circle of CultureEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferredCertifications:
Lean Six Sigma & Lean Manufacturing Green or Black Belt requiredExperience:
Direction of plant operations requires significant manufacturing knowledge as well as advanced interpersonal and supervisory skills. This is normally acquired by ten or more years of manufacturing managerial experienceKnowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental functions o Capacity Planning o Manufacturing Operations Management o OSHA Standards & Compliance o Plant Lifecycle Management o Quality Management o P&L Financial Performance ManagementKnowledge:
Manufacturing processes including but not limited to fabrication, welding, blast & paint, automotive assemblyKnowledge:

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
Position requires a high degree of concentration to manage frequent interruptions while meeting strict deadlines. This position requires the ability to perform duties using both typical office equipment such as computers, cell phones, and printers as well as the ability to communicate and perform tasks in a manufacturing/workshop environment. Must be able to perform physical and mental tasks associated within a manufacturing environment.OTHER DUTIES
