OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Assistant Plant Manager is an important role and is ideal for someone who likes a fast paced work environment where they can make an impact on the operation on a daily basis. This position could lead to the plant manager's role in a few years.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ASSISTANT PLANT MANAGER

• Hire, manage and train all scheduling, production, maintenance, shipping and receiving personnel
• Responsible for retention and development of employees
• Continuously improve production processes
• Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and operational
• Ensure the consistent execution of all SOP's throughout the plant
• Maintain safety and quality standards including

ISO 9001

2015 standards

• Negotiate with suppliers on plant purchases
• Cost management for all plant purchases
• Approve scheduling of production jobs to meet customer due dates and achieve maximum efficiency
• Responsible for achieving production goals for volume and quality
• Accurately quoting of new production jobs
• Maintain loading times for outbound shipments
• Must be able to effectively communicate with Inside Sales, Purchasing, Quality and Shipping departments

JOB REQUIREMENTS OF THE ASSISTANT PLANT MANAGER

• Minimum of 5 years work experience in Steel Service Center or Metal Industry is preferred, but not required
• Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role is preferred, but not required
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal required
• Strong customer focus
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
