Job Description

The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for assisting the Plant Manager in overseeing production lines and for ensuring that production quotas, quality, and employee/client goals are met daily. Must be able to work independently and be able to communicate well with staff and employee/clients. Directs the work of supervisors and provides support needed for them to accomplish their tasks daily. The Assistant Plant Manager acts as an advocate for the employee/client, ensuring a safe working environment. This position supervises and coordinates local production activities with overall responsibilities for safety, scheduling, workflow management, order fulfilment, field service, quality and inventory control, process improvement, budgeting, and other production-related activities. Additionally, the assistant plant manager ensures maximum production quantity and quality, while suppo1ting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company. Duties /Responsibilities Assist with the overall activities of the production facility to ensure customer orders are received, scheduled, produced, and shipped at the lowest possible cost to meet the customers' requirements while maintaining corporate established quality standard. Works with the Plant Manager to ensure that the facility maintains a leadership position in the industry and that it takes advantage of new processes and technologies that become available. Responsible for expense control, including shrink, labor, and overhead costs in all areas of the plant. Assign supervisors to appropriate work areas. Work closely with supervisors to ensure maximum efficiency during production runs. Ensure appropriate information (packaging specifications, labels, etc.) is available prior to running product. Record daily production into appropriate systems. Assist appropriate personnel in performing employee evaluations as required. Develop annual operating expense budget in accordance with forecasted sales volumes and planned inventory levels. Provide reliable and accurate information to finance to ensure that end of month closing schedules are met. Ensure that appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP's) are developed and maintained for all aspects of the business. Implement plant safety programs and ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP's) Responsible for all corporate, customer and government audits to ensure compliance. Responsible for environmental compliance. Responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, employee performance evaluations, discipline, and employee commendation. Responsible for the overall succession planning and development of plant management staff. Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel. Provide direction, development, and leadership to production leaders. Establish and communicate metrics that indicate overall plant performance on safety, delivery, quality, and cost standards. Responsible for development and execution of Continuous Improvement activities. Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs. Other duties as assigned.

From $110,000.00 per year
