Job Description
Position SummarySeeking an experienced and driven Production Manager to oversee all production operations across multiple shifts within our label manufacturing facility. The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production while meeting customer delivery requirements and company performance goals.
This leadership role manages production personnel, production scheduling execution, workflow efficiency, quality standards, equipment utilization, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing operation.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader with strong experience in printing and/or converting operations, employee leadership, process improvement, and production management.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction OperationsOversee all production activities across all shifts to ensure production goals, quality standards, and delivery schedules are achieved.
Manage daily manufacturing operations including printing, finishing, converting, and packaging processes.
Coordinate production schedules to maximize efficiency, machine utilization, and labor performance.
Monitor workflow and address production bottlenecks to minimize downtime and delays.
Ensure proper staffing levels for all shifts and production areas.
Collaborate with scheduling, customer service, warehouse, and quality departments to maintain production flow and on-time delivery performance.
Leadership & Team ManagementLead, coach, and develop supervisors, leads, operators, and production personnel.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Conduct employee evaluations, performance coaching, disciplinary actions, and development planning.
Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training production employees.
Ensure consistent communication and operational expectations between all shifts.
Quality & ComplianceEnsure all products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
Support and enforce company quality management system (QMS) procedures and GMP requirements.
Work closely with Quality Assurance to investigate and resolve quality issues and corrective actions.
Promote compliance with all safety policies, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
Continuous ImprovementDrive initiatives focused on waste reduction, setup reduction, efficiency improvement, and process standardization.
Monitor and analyze production KPIs including:
EfficiencyDowntimeWaste/ScrapLabor utilizationOn-time deliveryOverall equipment effectiveness (OEE)Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings.
Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
Equipment & Maintenance CoordinationCoordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
Assist in planning preventative maintenance schedules.
Support troubleshooting of production and equipment-related issues.
QualificationsRequiredMinimum 7 years of manufacturing leadership experience.
Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a production environment.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Experience with production scheduling and workflow management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing ERP/MRP systems.
PreferredExperience in printing, packaging, labels, flexible packaging, or converting industries.
Knowledge of flexographic printing and finishing operations.
Experience with quality management systems.
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
Physical RequirementsAbility to walk production floors regularly throughout shifts.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and industrial equipment.
Work EnvironmentManufacturing and production facility environment.
Occasional extended hours or weekend work may be required to support production demands.
