Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Work with the Plant Manager organizing, directing, and controlling the activities and personnel within the manufacturing facility to achieve profit and growth objectives.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
(This list may not include all of the duties assigned) Schedules, trains, and assigns work to and evaluates subordinate supervisory, lead person, and certain hourly employees. Recommends to Plant Manager actions affecting subordinate supervisory, lead person and hourly employees. Work closely with Human Resources in resolving employee issues. Reviews recommendations and decisions of subordinate supervisory personnel regarding plant operations. Provides assistance and guidance in resolving problems areas such as employee relations, product quality, allocations of work force, scheduling, and production flow, etc. Interface with Sales / Customer Service, and Plant Manager in areas of responsibility to determine throughput rates and maintain timely product flow in accordance with schedules. Recommends overtime and/or increases in work force when necessary. Within established budgetary guidelines authorizes purchase of supplies and equipment necessary to maintain and/or increase efficiency. Participates in the preparation of recommendations for the purchase of capital equipment exceeding budgetary guidelines. Works with Plant Manager to determine most efficient workflow, and layout, of the manufacturing facility, and work with Materials Management & Scheduling concerning inventory requirements, limitations, and constraints. Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures in areas such as plant performance, safety, employee relations, quality control, etc. Develops goals and objectives for areas of responsibility. Provides direction to line supervisors, lead persons and certain hourly employees in developing standards for improved quality, performance, and efficiency within these areas. Monitor and measure productions performance through the KPI reporting program. Coordinate and direct all plant activities in the absence of the Plant Manager, and perform other related duties as assigned. Works within the guidelines of the quality program. Insures good housekeeping in work area. Reports problems or accidents to management immediately. Gives proper consideration to safety on each job and abides by all company safety rules, policies, and procedures. Performs related work as required.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Ability to work with and direct the activities of employees. Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent project and program management skills. Safety Focused and computer proficient. Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques preferred. Technical skills in materials and inventory management, production scheduling, and preventive maintenance.
Leadership:
A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
Planning:
Ability to perform short and long-range planning.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
5 to 10 years of plant management experience in a manufacturing environment. Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required. •

$80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
