Job Description

Director, Manufacturing Operations Cooling performance limits AI infrastructure, semiconductor equipment, photonics, power electronics, defense systems, and other high-powered compute applications. Johnson Controls addresses these constraints with advanced thermal management components enabled by its Stack Forging™ process, which creates single-piece, leak-tight metal parts with complex internal microgeometries for stronger cooling performance, lower pressure drop, and high reliability. This role generally requires 4 days onsite per week. What You'll Do As the Director of Manufacturing Operations, you'll be integral to the growth and expansion of Johnson Controls. You'll lead the efforts to select and implement our next manufacturing site, oversee the build-out and installation of equipment, and be responsible for Johnson Controls' maintenance program. You will lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers, Manufacturing Technicians, and Facilities Engineers. Who You Are You are a sleeve-rolling manufacturing leader with a strong ability to build and scale operations and a foundation in facility planning and execution. You bring a proven track record of achieving outcomes on time while maintaining a dedication to safety, quality, and your team. You're experienced in driving complex projects while applying lean, data-driven methods to maximize efficiency and reliability. You lead with a collaborative, approachable style and are ready to take on new challenges as they come your way.
Responsibilities Facility Planning & Site Selection:
Lead end-to-end facility planning efforts, including defining operational requirements, evaluating potential sites, and selecting optimal locations aligned with business needs and growth strategy.
Layout & Flow:
Lead efforts to design and implement facility layout to maximize efficiency and operational flow.
Equipment Build-out:
Lead equipment build-out, including scheduling, resource planning, and execution to meet project timelines.
Maintenance Oversight:
Oversee facility and equipment maintenance programs to ensure reliability, safety, and minimal downtime.
Team Growth:
Recruit and onboard the talent necessary to scale the Stack Forging manufacturing process. Qualifications BS in Engineering 10+ years of experience in facility planning in manufacturing environments Prior participation in a factory buildout Preferred Skills Proven experience in facility planning, site selection, and large-scale build-outs within manufacturing environments Strong knowledge of facility layout design, workflow optimization, and lean principles (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen) Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects from concept through execution Experience with highly-customized equipment installation, commissioning, and vendor management Solid understanding of maintenance strategies, including preventive and predictive maintenance programs Familiarity with safety regulations, compliance standards, and risk management practices Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across teams Ability to manage budgets, timelines, and resources effectively in a fast-paced environment
HIRING SALARY RANGE
$140,600 - $234,800. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
