Job Description:
Assistant Plant Manager Position Summary A growing food manufacturing company is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager to help lead daily operations at a high-volume production facility. This individual will partner closely with plant leadership to drive operational excellence across production, quality, maintenance, sanitation, safety, and warehouse functions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with experience in food manufacturing who can develop teams, improve performance, and ensure operational goals are met while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and customer service. Key Responsibilities Assist with the day-to-day management of plant operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety objectives are achieved. Lead and develop supervisors and hourly team members across multiple departments. Monitor key performance indicators and implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and reduce waste. Partner with quality, food safety, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure compliance with all company and regulatory requirements. Support workforce planning, employee development, and performance management activities. Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence. Analyze production data and operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement. Assist in managing labor, productivity, and operational costs. Support capital projects, process improvements, and facility initiatives as needed. Qualifications 3+ years of leadership experience within food manufacturing, food processing, protein processing, or a related production environment. Experience leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Strong understanding of food safety, quality systems, and regulatory compliance. Demonstrated ability to improve operational performance and develop employees. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a production environment and lead multiple departments simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Food Science, Operations Management, Engineering, Animal Science, or a related field. Experience within protein, meat, poultry, or refrigerated food manufacturing environments. Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and manufacturing best practices.
