Our Director of Manufacturing coordinates all production team member efforts to ensure optimal project efficiency ensuring all projects are executed on time and to the highest standard of quality. You will work closely with our Project Manager and Shipping Manager to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely production of a wide variety of custom projects. This is a fast-paced, fun job that packs a lot of different activities into every day. Perfect for someone who has a knack for process and continuous improvement. To be successful in this role you need the ability to handle high-pressure situations and tight deadlines. You will also need great attention to detail, ability to follow and enforce processes, a ferocious work ethic, exceptional time management, an understanding of lean manufacturing principles, and a relentless focus on delivering the highest quality work. Core Responsibilities 1. Production Ownership Own and manage the laser and assembly schedule 2. Team Leadership & Execution Lead and manage operations team members (5+ employees) Coordinate shift schedules, daily priorities, and performance Run meetings and support team development 3. Operational Efficiency Maximize project uptime and throughput for a variety of custom projects Keep all equipment operating at peak performance Reduce idle time, waste, and inefficiencies through continuous improvement and lean thinking 4. Quality Control Own final product quality and QA processes Ensure 100% adherence to QC standards Track, document, and resolve defects 5. Process & Continuous Improvement Enforce all SOPs, 5S, and lean manufacturing principles Develop and implement process improvements Drive one-piece flow and workflow optimization 6. Cost Management Manage labor COGS and production costs Implement strategies to reduce cost while maintaining quality 7. Cross-Functional Coordination Partner with Project Management, Shipping, Sales, Design, and Vendors to ensure timely project completion and efficiency. Ensure clear and proactive communication to all team members and departments Enforce all safety, maintenance, and process standards 8. Woodworking & CNC Operations Proficient in woodworking and experienced with woodshop equipment Highly proficient in CNC operations Qualifications Deliver all projects on time and to high quality standards Maintain accurate, real-time production tracking Proven experience in production management within a manufacturing or woodworking environment, with demonstrated success in leading large teams. Strong knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP or similar platforms; familiarity with MRP systems is essential. Expertise in lean manufacturing methodologies, process improvement strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives. Mechanical knowledge related to woodworking machinery, assembly processes, and plant equipment maintenance. Exceptional skills in production planning, supply chain management, and operations management with a focus on efficiency and quality. Ability to analyze supply chain data and implement strategies for optimization and cost reduction. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, manage change effectively, and communicate clearly across all levels of the organization.
