Job Purpose:
The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for executing the daily tasks assigned by the plant manager. Additionally, they will manage the shop and execute tasks required to run the operations when other team members are not present.
Management Responsibilities:
Assist the Plant Manager in the daily operations of the plant including: Production scheduling Delivery scheduling Employee training and support Run plant operations when the manager is out Print packing slips Order material
Essential Functions:
Read work orders Cut wood to length on saw per work order Assemble skids and crates per work orders Move raw materials and finished product with hand trucks or forklift (see forklift note below) Stage raw materials for assembly Package finished goods for shipment Stock completed items in the appropriate place Complete and turn in paperwork including Actual quantity Time sheets Clean up work area Other responsibilities Forklift operation (once certified) Equipment maintenance per maintenance log Cleanliness of work area Assist other work areas as required to complete production requirements Safety Safe operation of all equipment Safety of employees Eye & hearing protection Repairing and adjusting equipment Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilitie s High school diploma (or equivalent). Carpentry and construction background Minimum of five (5) years' experience in operation and maintenance of wood cutting and assembly equipment. Basic mechanical aptitude; including ability to accurately read a tape measure. Able to perform skilled work of moderate difficulty. A high degree of initiative and creativity is required due to the complex nature of the situations/conditions of the position. Must have the ability to work independently with little to no day-to-day supervision. Ability to effectively solve problems, think clearly and positively in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations. Meet deadlines and fulfill commitments. Exhibit enthusiasm and an ability to work cooperatively with others. Ability to communicate well with co-workers and customers.
