This role oversees our packaging team and is ultimately responsible for the performance, reliability, and quality output of our canning and kegging operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, a deep respect for beer quality, and a passion for building efficient systems and teams. Our Packaging Manager will own day-to-day packaging operations, maintain and improve packaging equipment, train and develop team members, and work closely with brewing and quality teams to ensure our beer reaches customers exactly as intended. Key ResponsibilitiesPackaging Operations Plan, schedule, and oversee all packaging activities including canning, kegging, and related cellar transfers. Ensure packaging runs are completed safely, efficiently, and according to production schedules. Monitor packaging performance metrics including throughput, downtime, yield, and waste. Maintain accurate production records and inventory documentation. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting Serve as primary owner of the brewery's canning line and packaging equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and electromechanical issues. Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs for all packaging equipment. Coordinate with outside vendors and service providers when necessary. Continuously improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency. Quality Assurance Champion packaged beer quality throughout the packaging process. Ensure adherence to dissolved oxygen, carbonation, seam integrity, fill level, and other quality standards. Conduct routine quality checks and ensure corrective actions are implemented when standards are not met. Partner closely with brewing and quality personnel to protect beer freshness and consistency. Foster a culture where quality is never sacrificed for speed. Team Leadership Lead, train, schedule, and develop a team of Packaging Technicians. Establish clear expectations and accountability for safety, quality, and performance. Create SOPs and training materials for packaging operations. Promote a positive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment. Safety & Compliance Maintain a safe and organized packaging environment. Ensure compliance with all brewery safety policies, GMPs, and regulatory requirements. Lead by example in maintaining a culture of safety and operational excellence. QualificationsRequired 3+ years of packaging, manufacturing, or production leadership experience. Strong mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting production equipment. Experience maintaining and repairing electromechanical systems. Demonstrated leadership experience supervising production or manufacturing teams. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to lift 55 pounds and work in a physically demanding production environment. Willingness to work flexible hours as production schedules require. Preferred Brewery packaging experience, particularly with canning line operations. Knowledge of seam analysis, dissolved oxygen management, carbonation standards, and other packaged beer quality metrics. Experience with automated production equipment, PLC-controlled systems, conveyors, pumps, and pneumatic equipment. Formal technical training in mechanical, electrical, industrial maintenance, or related fields. Experience implementing lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives. Packaged beer leaves the brewery with industry-leading freshness and quality standards. Team members are well-trained, engaged, and accountable. Safety incidents, downtime, and quality defects are minimized through strong systems and leadership.
