Job Description:
Plant Manager - Glass Manufacturing near Monroeville, PA Are you looking for an opportunity to lead a growing manufacturing operation within a fast-paced industrial production environment? This Plant Manager role focuses on overseeing plant operations, production performance, maintenance coordination, quality control, shipping, receiving, employee development, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and on-time delivery performance. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on leadership, manufacturing operations management, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration within industrial manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage day-to-day plant operations including production, maintenance, quality, shipping, and receiving
  • Oversee manufacturing floor activities while maintaining efficient workflow, production output, and operational safety
  • Monitor production schedules, inventory levels, and delivery commitments to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Coordinate closely with production, maintenance, quality, and shipping teams to support operational efficiency
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management initiatives for plant personnel
  • Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives including 5S programs
  • Monitor operational performance metrics and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement
  • Ensure accurate production reporting, inventory management, and raw material flow coordination
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and maintain equipment reliability
  • Support quality assurance efforts to ensure products meet company and customer specifications
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and workplace safety initiatives
  • Communicate operational updates, plant performance, and workforce needs to senior leadership
  • Foster positive working relationships with employees, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Resolve operational issues related to staffing, production scheduling, equipment, or materials availability
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of glass manufacturing experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or plant management experience within a manufacturing environment required
  • Experience within custom manufacturing or glass manufacturing environments required
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and process optimization initiatives
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, inventory management, and operational workflow management
  • Experience managing plant operations, workforce performance, and operational metrics preferred
  • Strong leadership, employee development, coaching, and conflict resolution abilities
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP or manufacturing systems experience preferred
