MS Word Description:
The Production Superintendent located in Georgia will be a high-performing operations leader with proven success in the composite panel industry, specifically within MDF, particleboard, or related engineered wood products. This individual will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, leading high-performing teams, and optimizing plant performance across safety, production, quality, and cost. This is an opportunity to bring in an "A-player" who can elevate performance, lead from the front, and contribute to the long-term strategic growth of the organization
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Wood Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, Chemistry, or related field is preferred. Equivalent industry experience will be considered 8 to 15 years of leadership experience in the composite panel industry (MDF, particleboard, hardboard, OSB, or similar) with direct, hands-on experience within a manufacturing environment Demonstrated success leading large teams (supervisors, operators, maintenance, etc.) with "hands-on" leadership style. "Leader that is visible on the floor" Proven ability to develop talent, build culture, and drive accountability Experience leading through change, growth, or turnaround environments Strong background in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, etc.) Experience managing key
KPIs:
Safety performance Production throughput Yield optimization Downtime reduction Cost control Solid understanding of composite panel manufacturing processes, including: Fiber preparation and refining Resin systems and blending Press operations (continuous or multi-opening) Finishing and sanding processes Ability to manage budgets, analyze performance data, and make data-driven decisions Strong understanding of P&L impact and cost drivers within manufacturing Strong communicator capable of engaging both plant floor teams and executive leadership Hands-on, visible leadership style with a focus on accountability and results
Responsibilities:
Lead all aspects of plant operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production Drive a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements Establish and monitor KPIs across safety, quality, production, and cost Identify gaps and implement corrective actions to drive continuous improvement Build, coach, and develop a high-performing leadership team Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous learning Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce waste, and increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the plant Partner closely with maintenance leadership to ensure strong preventive and predictive maintenance programs Reduce unplanned downtime and improve equipment reliability Work closely with sales, procurement, and corporate leadership to align production with business needs Support strategic initiatives and capital improvement projects Manage plant-level budgets and drive cost control initiatives Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies that improve profitability Contribute to long-term planning, capacity expansion, and process innovation Serve as a key leader in driving the overall success of the operation We are committed to making employment decisions that are fair and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, genetics, gender identity or expression or any other characteristics protected under law.
