Job Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing operations within the facility, ensuring production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and financial objectives are achieved. This leadership role directs production, maintenance, quality, warehouse, and continuous improvement activities while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct and manage daily plant operations to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements are met. Develop and implement operational strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, and profitability. Lead, mentor, and develop supervisors, managers, and plant personnel. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including productivity, quality, scrap rates, downtime, labor utilization, and on-time delivery. Ensure compliance with all company policies, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and safety standards. Oversee maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Manage plant budgets, labor costs, inventory levels, and operational expenses. Collaborate with engineering, quality, supply chain, and sales departments to achieve company objectives. Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar methodologies. Analyze operational data and prepare reports for senior leadership. Ensure proper staffing levels to support production demands. Conduct performance evaluations and implement employee development plans. Investigate and resolve production, quality, safety, and personnel issues. Lead efforts to improve employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture. Coordinate capital improvement projects and equipment installations.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
7+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience. 3+ years in a Plant Manager or senior operations leadership role preferred. Experience managing production, maintenance, quality, and warehouse functions. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, and workforce management. Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and manufacturing leadership experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong leadership and team development skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and operational excellence initiatives. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices. Ability to analyze operational metrics and make data-driven decisions. Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
