We are seeking a hands-on, high-energy Plant Manager to run our production facility. If you are a manufacturing leader who understands the mechanics of woodworking, the power of Cabinet Vision automation, and the discipline of Lean manufacturing, we want you on our team. As the Plant Manager/Shop Foreman, you are the heartbeat of our manufacturing operation. You will lead the plant floor and engineering team, oversee purchasing and vendor negotiations, and ensure that every project is engineered accurately and produced efficiently. You will have direct accountability for the manufacturing costs and operational efficiencies that dictate project profitability. The Plant Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility, including detailing/engineering, purchasing, CNC machining, assembly, finishing, and shipping. This role focuses on optimizing manufacturing efficiencies, ensuring 100% drawing accuracy, negotiating raw material pricing, and managing the production lifecycle of every project from start to finish. Manufacturing Efficiencies & Floor Leadership Daily Operations:
Schedule and oversee all plant production activities to ensure daily throughput targets and project deadlines are met. Lean Execution:
Implement and maintain Lean manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen, setup reduction) to minimize waste, optimize material yield, and reduce cycle times. Labor Management:
Manage labor allocation, cross-train employees, and build a culture focused on safety, quality, and high morale. 2. Engineering Accuracy & Cabinet Vision Workflow Drawing Verification:
Oversee the drafting/detailing department to ensure all shop drawings are 100% accurate, field-verified, and aligned with architectural specs before production. Screen-to-Machine (S2M): Ensure seamless integration of Cabinet Vision with CNC routers, nested-base lines, and edge-banders to eliminate programming or machining errors on the floor. 3. Procurement, Purchasing & Vendor Negotiation Material Sourcing:
Manage the procurement of sheet goods, hardwoods, hardware, laminates, and finishing supplies. Price Negotiation:
Proactively negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, volume discounts, and favorable terms to lower the cost of goods sold (COGS). Inventory Control:
Maintain optimal stock levels to prevent production delays while minimizing excess inventory costs. 4. Project Management & Manufacturing P&L Cradle-to-Grave Execution:
Track each project through the shop floor from the moment submittals are approved to final loading on the delivery truck. Job Costing Accountability:
Monitor material yields and direct labor hours for each project to ensure manufacturing costs stay strictly within budgeted margins. Experience:
5+ years of plant management or supervisory experience specifically within a cabinetry, architectural millwork, or furniture manufacturing facility. Software Mastery:
Strong operational knowledge of Cabinet Vision is required to effectively manage the engineering-to-production data flow. Equipment Knowledge:
Deep understanding of automated woodworking machinery (CNC routers, edge-banders, automated boring machines, spray booths). Education:
Degree in Wood Technology, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
