The Production Manager will supervise production teams, optimize processes using Lean and Lean Six Sigma principles, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste while ensuring full compliance with food safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Plan, organize, and direct all production activities to meet production schedules, quality standards, and cost targets. Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors and operators to build a high-performing, safety-focused team. Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing practices and Lean Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste, reduce variability, and improve throughput. Develop, monitor, and report production KPIs (yield, OEE, cycle time, downtime, scrap) and take corrective actions to achieve targets. Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and R D to resolve production issues and support new product introductions. Ensure compliance with food safety systems (HACCP, GMPs, SQF/BRC as applicable) and all regulatory requirements, including documentation and traceability. Manage staffing, shift assignments, and training to maintain consistent production capacity; support hiring and performance management processes. Drive root-cause analysis and problem-solving efforts (5 Whys, DMAIC) for recurring issues and sustain corrective actions. Prepare and manage production budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings and process optimization. Oversee equipment utilization and collaborate with Maintenance to schedule preventative maintenance and minimize unplanned downtime. Qualifications ering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years of production management experience in a food manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience applying Lean and Lean Six Sigma tools; Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred. Strong knowledge of food safety and quality systems (HACCP, GMPs, SQF, BRC) and regulatory requirements. Proven leadership skills with experience managing multi-shift teams in a union or non-union environment. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using root-cause methodologies (DMAIC, 5 Whys). Proficient with production planning systems/ERP and common manufacturing software; strong Excel skills. Effective communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally and present to senior management. Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with flexible hours, including potential shift work and occasional weekend support.
