Full Job Description Position Overview :
The Manufacturing Manager (U.S.) is a skilled is a skilled tradesperson who specializes in both welding and metal fabrication, who can lead Plum's growing fabrication shop in Odessa, TX, responsible for overseeing the end-to-end shop operations for natural gas and automated diesel fueling equipment, including coalescing filters, pump systems, compression, piping manifolds and related equipment. This role ensures efficient production, high-quality output, and strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards while supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence. The candidate can read and understand technical drawings and blueprints and can determine project specifications, and adhere to project standards and specifications. Responsibilities:
Oversee daily manufacturing and repair & maintenance activities, including fabrication, assembly, and testing of equipment. Manage production and maintenance schedules to ensure timely delivery of equipment and meet project deadlines. Responsible for managing, organizing, and maintaining inventory for Plum's Odessa shop. Optimize workflow, labor utilization, and equipment use to maximize efficiency and output. Engineering Interpretation - Reading and understanding technical drawings and blueprints to determine project specifications. Coordinate closely with engineering, supply chain, and field operations teams to ensure alignment throughout the production lifecycle. Implement and enforce quality control processes to ensure all equipment meets company, customer, and regulatory standards. Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, pressure vessel standards, safety regulations). Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain product integrity and operational excellence (e.g., welding inspections). Designing and fabricating the equipment and parts for meeting special or unusual needs Metal Preparation - Measuring, cutting, shaping, and smoothing metal using hand tools, power tools, and machines Welding Operations - Joining metal components using various welding techniques and tools including mig-welder, tig-welder, plasma cutter, arc welder, chop saw, and oxyacetylene torch Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements. Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and cost reduction initiatives. Oversee maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of manufacturing equipment, tools, and facilities. Ensure proper inventory management of raw materials and components required for production. Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and manage local technicians, welders, assemblers, contractors, and supervisors. Provide training and performance coaching to enhance team capabilities and productivity. Foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment across fabrication and assembly teams Education:
Bachelor's degree or vocational training in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field (preferred). Equivalent hands-on experience in oil & gas or industrial equipment manufacturing or and/or operations may be considered.
