Job Description:
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced operations leader to oversee a high-volume surface mining site producing construction aggregates, road base materials, and sand products at a rate exceeding two million tons annually. This individual will be accountable for leading daily activities, driving production performance, maintaining compliance, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Key Responsibilities Lead, coach, and support site personnel to consistently meet output expectations and operational targets. Maintain efficient production across all plant and pit activities while ensuring product consistency across multiple work shifts. Collaborate with technical and environmental teams to establish and execute effective extraction and site development plans. Track operational costs, analyze financial performance, and manage budgets to meet both short- and long-term financial objectives. Oversee the proper use, upkeep, and scheduling of heavy equipment and processing systems to maximize uptime. Evaluate daily operations to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, productivity, and cost control. Promote a strong safety-first environment and ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and best practices. Qualifications Minimum of five years of experience in open-pit or surface mining operations. Degree in engineering, mining, construction management, or a related discipline is preferred; comparable experience will be considered. Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in a production-focused environment, including exposure to equipment operations, maintenance, or quality assurance. Familiarity with regulatory agencies and permitting processes relevant to mining operations (e.g., environmental and safety authorities). Strong understanding of industry safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements. Spanish language skills are a plus.
