Eric'sons Dura Trench manufactures custom commercial and industrial drainage systems for customers across North America. Our Chester, VA facility primarily supports customers in the western U.S. and works closely with other North American plants to deliver complex, one-of-a-kind drainage solutions. Our work involves a wide variety of materials including metals, plastics, fiberglass, stone, glass, and wood making this a hands-on, fast-changing manufacturing environment. Position Summary The Assembly Department Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations while ensuring safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost control, and employee engagement. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can solve problems on the fly, understand how things are built, and keep teams focused and productive. The right candidate will be a strong self-leader , capable of independent decision-making, and comfortable spending about 50% of their time coaching, guiding, and closely managing the workforce to maintain performance and accountability. Key Responsibilities Execute department goals related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Engagement Maintain a safe work environment while minimizing rework and driving continuous improvement Manage daily workforce activities and production priorities Optimize production flow and output to meet customer demand Monitor and control raw materials and inventory levels Communicate staffing needs to HR and Plant Manager to support on-time delivery Train, coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable Ideal Candidate Profile Strong problem solver who can figure out how to build custom solutions Construction background with hands-on understanding of assembly and manufacturing Comfortable working with technical drawings and construction plans Natural self-starter with the ability to lead without constant direction Patient, firm, and effective when managing people in a fast-paced environment
