Job Description

OVERVIEW
The production lead will assist with managing the fast-paced day-to-day production operations and support the production manager in all aspects of production and operational performance. The successful candidate will ensure that objectives are attained cost-effectively and are consistent with quality requirements. They will also delegate assignments to key employees in production and warehousing and support coordinating operations for the processing plant. The production lead will be crucial in supporting associate scheduling, completing daily operating reports, increasing production through leadership, and helping develop strategic plans. The ideal candidate will possess a positive, can-do attitude, have strong leadership capabilities, and excellent interpersonal communication skills. Ideally, the production lead will be mechanically minded as well. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed must represent the knowledge, skills, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Build a Safety-First culture and develop a highly motivated workforce; Identify and eliminate potential sources of food safety risk. Responsible for delivering site environmental, health, & safety performance; works to exceed expectations for all internal & external audits. Ensures all legal compliance requirements, company safety procedures, and local and state health and safety regulations are met. Train new employees; serve as a positive role model of emotional intelligence and leadership. Drives positive employee relations and delivers sustainable results. Foster a culture of respectful communication and healthy conflict resolution by proactively addressing employee concerns, mediating workplace conflicts, and guiding team members toward constructive, solution-oriented outcomes. Demonstrate strong people management skills by coaching employees, providing real-time feedback, and promoting accountability while maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment. Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess personnel and operational challenges, balancing productivity needs with employee engagement and team effectiveness. Oversees daily floor operations; implements and sustains manufacturing best practices/procedures and meets/exceeds relevant certifications/qualifications/requirements (for example, OSHA, SQF, GMP, HACCP, and FDA). Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and make necessary adjustments to improve processes and productivity. Coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality control, and maintenance, to ensure smooth project implementation. Effectively communicates urgent internal and external issues to the site, as needed. Identifies issues quickly, assists in developing action plans, and coordinates team member activities so these issues are communicated upward and dealt with quickly & effectively. Must be competent in identifying root causes of issues and adept at developing and implementing corrective actions to prevent problems from repeating. Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. Stay informed about industry best practices and apply relevant innovations to the team's work.
QUALIFICATIONS
Computer knowledgeable with specific knowledge of Excel Must be able to work overtime as needed Aptitude for equipment operation helpful Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong critical thinking skills and decision-making abilities Strict adherence to company standards and safety procedures Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently Excellent leadership, team building, and management skills Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions Able to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 60 pounds
