Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Production & Installation Manager to lead daily operations for a fast-paced commercial signage company. This role is responsible for overseeing production workflows, installation crews, project execution, quality control, scheduling, and operational efficiency from fabrication through final installation. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of sign manufacturing, wide-format printing, fabrication methods, permitting coordination, and field installation logistics. You will play a critical role in ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Responsibilities Oversee all day-to-day production and installation operations for commercial signage projects. Manage fabrication schedules, workflow prioritization, and shop productivity to ensure deadlines are met. Coordinate installation crews, subcontractors, equipment, and site logistics. Review project specifications, work orders, drawings, and production files for accuracy and completeness. Ensure all signage is produced and installed according to company quality standards and client expectations. Conduct site visits, field measurements, and installation planning as needed. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchasing of materials, hardware, and supplies. Troubleshoot production or installation challenges and implement practical solutions quickly. Maintain compliance with OSHA and workplace safety standards. Coordinate with sales, project management, design, and customers to ensure smooth project execution. Train, supervise, and support production staff and installation teams. Manage timelines for permits, landlord approvals, inspections, and project milestones when applicable. Oversee maintenance and proper use of production equipment, tools, and company vehicles. Track labor hours, installation costs, and project performance metrics. Ensure accurate documentation of completed work, punch lists, and customer sign-offs. Qualifications & Experience Previous experience in commercial signage production, fabrication, or installation management required. Strong understanding of sign manufacturing processes including: Wide-format printing Vinyl application Channel letters Cabinet signs ADA signage Dimensional lettering Electrical signage Large-format graphics Experience managing installation crews and coordinating multiple active projects. Ability to read construction drawings, shop drawings, and technical specifications. Familiarity with sign permitting and municipal compliance processes preferred. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and team management abilities. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and production/project management software. Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. Valid driver's license and clean driving record preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Preferred Skills Experience with sign industry software and workflow systems. Knowledge of electrical signage and UL requirements. Forklift, lift equipment, or crane coordination experience preferred. Understanding of fabrication materials including acrylic, aluminum, steel, vinyl, and LED systems. Strong customer service mindset with the ability to manage client expectations professionally.
