This role serves as the central coordination point between Sales, Supply Chain, Operations, and QA to align production plans with inventory, capacity, and customer requirements. The position drives schedule attainment, inventory control, and operational efficiency.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and inventory levels. Balance capacity constraints (labor, equipment, materials) to optimize throughput and minimize downtime. Sequence production runs to maximize efficiency, reduce changeovers, and minimize waste. Adjust schedules in real-time to address production disruptions, material shortages, or priority changes. Ensure alignment between production plans and customer delivery requirements. Translate demand forecasts and customer orders into actionable production plans. Monitor raw materials, packaging, and finished goods inventory to prevent shortages or overproduction. Partner with Supply Chain to ensure timely procurement and availability of materials. Drive inventory accuracy and support cycle counts and reconciliation processes. Maintain appropriate safety stock levels and reduce excess/obsolete inventory. Utilize ERP/MES systems (NetSuite, RedZone) to manage production orders, scheduling, and reporting. Maintain accurate data inputs including BOMs, routings, lead times, and inventory levels. Generate and distribute daily/weekly production schedules and reports. Analyze data to identify planning gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Serve as the primary point of contact for production schedule communication across departments. Monitor and drive key planning and operational metrics, including: Schedule attainment On-time/in-full (OTIF) delivery Inventory turns and accuracy Waste and yield impact from planning decisions Downtime related to planning or material shortages Identify root causes of planning failures and implement corrective actions. Drive process improvements in scheduling, forecasting, and inventory management. Support lean manufacturing initiatives, including reduction of changeover time and waste. Improve data integrity and system utilization for better planning accuracy. Standardize planning processes across product lines and customers.Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field. 3-5+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain within manufacturing (food or co-packing preferred). Prior supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred. Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, including P&L ownership experience.Technical & Functional Skills:
Strong ERP experience (NetSuite preferred) and familiarity with MES tools such as RedZone. Advanced Excel/data analysis skills. Understanding of MRP principles, capacity planning, and inventory control. Knowledge of food manufacturing constraints (shelf life, allergen control, lot traceability).Pay:
