Production SupervisorPosition OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Production Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations on the manufacturing floor in a food production environment. The Production Supervisor will be responsible for meeting production targets while ensuring product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance. This role focuses on coaching and developing team members, driving continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma principles, and maintaining efficient, safe, and compliant processes.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate production activities to meet daily and weekly production targets, quality standards, and customer requirements.
Lead, coach, and develop production staff; manage scheduling, attendance, and performance to build a high-performing team.
Ensure strict adherence to food safety programs (HACCP, GMP), company policies, and regulatory requirements; partner with Quality Assurance to address non-conformances.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to reduce waste, improve throughput, and increase first-pass yield.
Monitor production KPIs, prepare operational reports, and present findings to operations management; use data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
Conduct root-cause analysis for production issues and lead cross-functional corrective action teams.
Coordinate preventive maintenance and quick response to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
Manage inventory of raw materials and packaging, including control of scrap, rework, and product traceability.
Oversee sanitation and cleaning procedures to maintain a hygienic production environment.
Support new product introductions and scale-up activities; ensure proper documentation and training for new processes.
Qualifications3+ years of supervisory experience in food manufacturing or a closely related industry.
Demonstrated experience with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or comparable experience preferred).Strong knowledge of food safety systems (HACCP), GMPs, and relevant regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA as applicable).Proven leadership and people-management skills with ability to motivate teams and manage performance.
Excellent problem-solving skills with experience in root-cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Proficient with production planning tools, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel) for data analysis and reporting.
Flexible to work shifts and overtime as required; ability to work on the production floor in a fast-paced environment.
