Job Description

Responsibilities Under the direction of the Plant and or Manufacturing Manager the production supervisor position encompasses the staffing, supervision, direction, training and evaluation of an assigned production team/shift. Directs and controls multiple production operations within the plant.
Qualifications Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Follows and complies with all safety, work rules and regulations. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Ensures the safety of all associates in the manufacturing area.
  • Assists in the enforcement of company rules and policies and in completing necessary paperwork.
  • Ensures that all environmental issues are dealt with appropriately and in coordination with environmental resources within the company.
  • Records all necessary consumption, line events and production information into SAP.
  • Ensures that all associates are treated with respect and in a way that supports Avient values.
  • Develops and maintains competent associates who deliver continuous improvement results.
  • Ensure all associates on the shift follow all Avient policies and procedures
  • Assists in training all new employees on the required ISO Standard Procedures. Maintains training to comply with latest revision of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assures that all assigned associates have the training, tools, and equipment to complete and perform their responsibilities.
  • Promotes a team environment, supports the team, and works alongside the team.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with Plant Supply Chain, Quality/Lab, Maintenance, and Warehouse support group. Enters Limble requests when required to have malfunctioning equipment repaired.
  • Ensures that product loss and scrap production are kept to a minimum and documented accurately.
  • Coordinates with other shifts to provide seamless shift turnover and manpower coverage.
  • Fills in for workers when needed and covers other Supervisors as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree or prior experience preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience managing others in a manufacturing environment preferred
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must have mathematical skill to add, subtract, multiply and divide and apply these skill to weights, measures of volume, speed and distance.
  • Must have ability to reason and address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Prior experience coaching employees and being able to have difficult conversations
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English one-on-one and in small group situations.
