The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day running of production processes in the assigned area. This position will plan and organize staff tasks and shifts, appraise performance, coach, counsel and discipline staff as needed. The Production Supervisor will enforce systems, policies and procedures, track and report on KPI's and will partner with other departments such as, quality, safety and human resources to ensure compliance in his/her assigned areas. This is a third shift position, Sunday - Thursday 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Essential Function - Supervision of Department Staff
  • Supervises all production employees in assigned department(s)/shift, including motivating and disciplining. Assigns and directs work, coaches, evaluates and appraises; ensures effective labor relations.
  • Creates and maintains an ethical and non-discriminatory work environment.
  • Creates and maintains effective lines of communication and effectively manages conflict.
  • Assures that Department Shift meets objectives for quality, productivity, and safety.
  • Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Works effectively and relates well with others including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company. Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Timely arrival and regular attendance at work.

  • Essential Function - Productivity of Assigned Department(s)/Shift
  • Ensures that department/shift maintains Productivity KPI's by ensuring standardized output and maintaining adequate staffing levels.
  • Ensure that customer orders are processed according to scheduled ship dates.
  • Work closely with Maintenance and Engineering groups to ensure proper functioning of production equipment and to minimize downtime.
  • Ensures that daily reporting of production outputs is completed timely and submitted to Production Manager Daily.

  • Essential Function - Safety Compliance
  • Ensure that department complies with all safety rules and procedures, as well as good housekeeping within the plant, in accordance with SOPs, work instructions, and GMPs.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions to Department Manager and Safety Manager.
  • Reports all incidents, accidents and/or near misses to Department Manager and Safety Manager. Essential Function - Quality Assurance
  • Ensures that self and department staff are performing tasks within the scope of quality guidelines.
  • Reports any deviations or non-conformances immediately to QA and Department Manager.
  • Ensures that all tasks are performed in accordance with ISO standards, Work Instructions, SOP's, cGMP and company policy.
  • Reviews and recommends new or enhanced procedures and/or processes to maximize efficiency and to continuously improve quality of product produced.
  • Creates work instructions that satisfy Quality system requirements.
ResponsibilityThis position supervises work and staff in designated production area.

Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to elements including environmental heat and high heat from moving mechanical parts, small parts may be encountered on the floor, and dust particles may float in the air. Work is done in both office space and in the plant where safety is a critical concern. PPE must be worn. Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires moving about as much as 95% of the workday in and throughout the assigned production area; and the occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. This position can require occasional squatting, stooping, bending or crouching. Use of computer involves some repetitive motion. Business needs require that the employee in this position work an established 40-hour workweek and on occasion work additional hours outside of the standard schedule. Work is done in the plant where safety is a critical concern. Personal protective equipment must be worn including safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves and/or protection from high noise levels. Wear protective clothing such as a uniform, over suit, hair net, beard cover, etc. must also in designated areas. Workday flexibility.

HEARING:
Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position, and hours are dependent on Shift allocation. Required Education and Experience Three years related supervisory experience.
  • Labor relations experience preferred.
  • BS/BA preferred.
  • Technical skills to include machine start-up and corrective actions.
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification preferred.
