JOB SUMMARY
Assists the Production Manager in the direction and coordination of production efforts including planning, assisting project managers with scheduling, and ensuring required equipment, material, and personnel are available to complete all assigned and upcoming jobs. Assists the Production Manager ensuring production schedule and budget requirements are being met while ensuring quality and safety objectives are never compromised. Makes certain that maximum profit is achieved by ensuring the Foremen and the Production Team are operating at peak efficiency and are budget conscious.
Essential Functions:
Acts as an advisor to the Production Manager to provide input to the Production Manager concerning personnel, material, and equipment requirements necessary to support all ongoing and upcoming projects. Coordinates with Production Manager to accomplish trade Foremen's work schedules and job assignments. When directed by the Production Manager, assists the trade Foremen in the review of all job requirements and identification of technical and personnel requirements and works with the Production Manager to ensure all of these requirements are met. Alert the Production Manager of any requirements or potential problem areas that impact the company, production schedule, budget, Project Team, or Foremen. When directed by the Production Manager, assists the Project/Program Manager when needed to accomplish estimates, ensure reports are submitted with sound technical recommendations, and resolve schedule conflicts. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the trust and confidence of the Production Manager to be able to carry out the tasks as assigned. Graduation from a standard apprenticeship/trade/vocational school. High school diploma or GED required and 1 or more years of related experience or equivalent of training and experience. Ability to gain access to military installations. Must pass a drug test and background check. Able to focus on tasks assigned. Has the discretion to determine when to recommend appropriate actions, methods, and techniques to the Production Manager. Has the sensitivity to the chain on command to be able to carry out the Production Manager's direction without usurping direct line authority. Follows an organized method in approach to work but is cognizant of the time needed to provide a service or product. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Strong communication skills, including oral, written and interpersonal skills are necessary for effective communication between management and customers. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or other engineering fields preferred; and three to five years related marine, shipyard or industrial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule. Must have Microsoft Office Software experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Project a plus. Ability to pass drug test and background check. Ability to gain access to military installations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. This is can be a physically demanding position and may accommodate some physical disabilities. Physical dexterity may be required when performing walk thru and inspection of job sites and when operating calculators, copiers, computers and/or other typical office equipment. In the performance of the walk thru you will be required to transverse steep stairwells, vertical ladders and bending or stooping thru tight spaces. There may be occasional lifting of materials weighing not more than 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Environmental Conditions:
This position works in an office environment and on the jobsite. There is some exposure to hostile environments, loud noises, hazardous chemicals, smoke, and extreme temperatures. During work-site visits will be required to wear appropriate PPE including, but not limited to: Hard hat Ear plugs or attenuator Safety shoes Dust mask or respirator Gloves
