FUNCTION SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES
Production Supervisor oversees the activities of all co-workers involved in the manufacturing of cookie products and of the equipment on the shift. The Production Supervisor reporting directly to the Production Manager. Each shift consists of up to 3 Lead Persons, Machine Operators, Packers, and a utility person. The production Supervisor prepares daily shift reports detailing production and manning statistics and ensures the mix sheets, oven reports, and finished goods reports are prepared during the shift and the scrap is reported accurately. The incumbent also assures that all information recorded on all required documents is accurate and legible.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Oversees the production of finished products to meet productivity standards preventing costly negative variance and possible short shipments Utilizes assigned manpower effectively to meet company manning standards and reduce overtime to keep unit costs as low as possible. Ensures that all production equipment used on shift is properly maintained to prevent productivity loss, excessive scrap, and downtime. Submits accurate and timely production reports. Ensures quality housekeeping and safety standards are met during shift to prevent losses due to rework, rejection, or accidents
RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum job content knowledge: At least 4 years of Food Plant experience. American Institute of Baking or other 3rd Party Audit experience. Familiar with Hazardous Materials used in a Food Plant. Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets. Ability to understand and operate all production equipment. Excellent oral and written communication skills, read and write English fluently, ability and willingness to follow Standard Operating Procedures, ability to receive written and verbal directions, ability to understand general work processes. Must possess proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software. Recent Supervisory experience of crews with up to 40 co-workers is mandatory.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Ability to work any shift, ability to stand or walk for extended periods, and will require overtime. 95% of shift will be direct supervision of employees. Must posses basic mechanical aptitude and be good with numbers. Capable of understanding work instructions and reading notices and work schedules as posted on the Bulletin Board. Mature individual with the ability to effectively communicate with other departments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to move up and down building stairways and ladders in a multi-level plant to reach job assignments and perform the tasks required in sanitation. Tasks require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, bending and twisting. Capable of exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects, wipe, scrub, scrape, and mop.
