This role involves supervising field crews, coordinating schedules, managing materials and equipment, and maintaining strong communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams. The Superintendent plays a key leadership role in driving productivity, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring customer satisfaction across multiple job sites

Refuse complacency; continuously seek improvement, innovation, and excellence. Key Responsibilities Field Operations Oversee day-to-day operations of HCC projects. Ensure all projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to client specifications. Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and clients to align on scope and expectations. Team Leadership Supervise foremen, painters, and subcontractors across multiple job sites. Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, respect and teamwork on job sites. Monitor team dynamics and intervene promptly when signs of conflict or tension arise, before they escalate or impact productivity. Recognize when a conflict requires escalation and involve teams appropriately while maintaining confidentiality and fairness.
Quality Control & Safety Enforce Safety Standards:
Monitor job sites to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and hazard control measures.
Training & Incident Prevention:
Conduct toolbox talks, educate crews on PPE use, and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies.
Reporting & Compliance:
Maintain safety documentation, investigate incidents, and coordinate corrective actions with project leadership. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards and safety protocols.
Ensure Quality Standards:
Oversee surface preparation, coating application, and final finishes to meet project specifications and industry standards.
Compliance & Documentation:
Enforce OSHA safety rules, maintain inspection reports, and verify material certifications.
Team Coordination & Training:
Collaborate with project managers, guide crews on best practices, and resolve quality issues promptly. Resource & Schedule Coordination Manage labor allocation, equipment, and material delivery. Ensure timely approval of accurate employee timecards and liaise with payroll to resolve any employee pay issues. Review and approve PTO and ensure accurate coverage for continuity of work. Maintain accurate project schedules and daily progress reports. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely availability of paint and tools. Coordinate with superintendent team to optimize crew scheduling , minimize overlap and maximize efficiency Client Relations Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients and stakeholders. Communicate project updates, address concerns, and ensure customer satisfaction. Represent the company professionally at all times. Qualifications Conditions of Employment May require early mornings, evenings, overnight or weekend work depending on project needs. Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Must consent to periodic MVR checks as a condition of employment and continued eligibility for driving responsibilities to ensure compliance with company insurance and safety standards. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening. Random drug testing may be conducted in accordance with company policy and applicable federal and state laws. Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of coatings, surface prep techniques, and application methods. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and safety documentation. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Proficiency in project management tools and reporting software. Must be able to speak, read, and write English clearly and effectively to perform essential job duties. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a bonus Experience, Education, Certifications & Licenses High School Diploma or GED equivalence required 5+ years of supervisory experience in commercial or industrial painting (preferred) Must be able to obtain an OSHA-30 within 6 months of moving into the role. OSHA certification and familiarity with industrial safety standards. Valid driver's license and ability to travel between job sites Environmental Conditions This is a field-based role requiring regular travel to multiple job sites. Overnight travel may be required (% of time depends on the division) Exposure to outdoor environments, heights, and industrial settings. Must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain). Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, safety harnesses, gloves, and protective clothing. May be exposed to fumes, dust, chemicals, and paint products (with appropriate PPE). Physical Requirements Must be able to stand, walk, and safely navigate job sites for extended periods (8+ hours per day). Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing (including ladders and scaffolding). Ability to access confined spaces and elevated work areas. Must be able to lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly. Occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance or mechanical support. Stamina to work in physically demanding environments, including outdoor and industrial settings. Visual acuity for inspecting surfaces, reading plans, and identifying safety hazards. Adequate hearing to communicate effectively on noisy job sites and respond to alarms or warnings. Good motor coordination to handle tools, equipment, and materials with precision. Ability to maintain hand-eye coordination for tasks involving surface preparation, paint application, and safe operation of equipment.
