What to Expect in the
Role:
Working knowledge and operation of all farm machinery, equipment, and fleet vehicles. Understand manufacturer's specifications for proper equipment operation. Ensure the proper training of the employees Direct the administrative and functional activities of grove production/harvesting. Monitor the fruit estimation process to approximate harvest. Review production reports, harvesting and fruit quality reports, analyze data and make recommendations to improve efficiency and cost control. Manage unit budget and implement cost control measures as necessary. Coordinate production and harvesting activities with the state manager and superintendents. Monitor caretaking activities to ensure spray program, fertilizing, planting, and land development activities are appropriate and conform to established standards. Monitor harvesting activities to ensure proper fruit picking, handling and loading to conform to established standards. Prepare annual reviews of superintendents, supervisors, and clerks, and assist in the formulation of career goals. Provide safety education to all employees under supervision. Execute employee relation procedures/labor agreements as appropriate. Working knowledge of company policies and procedures, technical manuals and safety rules and regulations. Working knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations as they pertain to agriculture. Investigate, document, and report all infractions of company safety rules and regulations. Ability to retrieve, understand and distribute information using reports and research. Perform all safety requirements. .
What We Will Be Needing From You:
Requires driving and riding in a vehicle for long periods of time over rough terrain. Requires mobility to all company grove locations. Requires the ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to analyze, identify and solve problems. Requires knowledge of citrus varieties, rootstocks, experimental planting, and irrigation techniques. Ability to keep updated on new developments and changes in the industry. Requires the ability to prepare written monthly reports Majority of work is performed outdoors in a grove environment, with a small amount of time spent in a normal office environment. Work requires exposure to all temperature and weather extremes, loud noises, moving equipment, dust, fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, fuel, frequent entering and exiting company vehicles, and walking on a soft, sandy and rough, hard uneven surfaces. Four-year degree/two to three years' experience in citrus production/harvesting Multimedia communication skills. Requires a valid driver's license with a clear driving record. Requires a valid restricted pesticide license.
