Supervisor II, Production 3.2 3.2 out of 5 stars Forest City, IA 50436 Full-time Winnebago Industries Inc 210 reviews Full-time Key Responsibilities Supervise, coach, and develop a production team (assembly, harness builders, inspectors) to meet daily/shift production goals and quality standards. Schedule and allocate resources, coordinate shift assignments, and manage attendance/timekeeping. Monitor production metrics (throughput, yield, downtime) and take corrective actions to meet KPIs. Ensure compliance and help with work instructions, poka-yoke fixtures, process controls, and quality plans. Lead root-cause problem solving for defects, rework, and process inefficiencies; implement corrective/preventive actions. Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, SMED, standard work) to reduce cost and cycle time. Coordinate with Engineering/Design on ECNs, production transitions, and prototype builds. Ensure proper material flow and communicate shortages or inventory variances to Materials/Planners. Oversee training and certification of operators on wiring harness assembly, crimping, cutting, welding, connector seating, and test procedures. Maintain and enforce safety policies, PPE use, and housekeeping standards. Maintain production documentation, time studies, and shift turnover reports; complete required HR paperwork. Support equipment maintenance planning and coordinate with Maintenance for repairs and preventive maintenance. Required Skills & Experience Proven supervisory experience in electronics, wiring harness, cable assembly, or similar manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of wiring harness assembly processes: terminal crimping, soldering, IDC, heat-shrink, connector assembly, touch-up, and mechanical routing. Familiarity with crimp quality standards, pull/test procedures, IPC/WHMA-A-620 (preferred), and use of harness test equipment. Ability to read and enforce work instructions, BOMs, wiring prints, and assembly drawings.
Competence with lean manufacturing tools:
Kaizen, 5S, standard work, visual management. Strong problem-solving skills (5 Whys, Fishbone), data-driven decision making, and experience reducing defects/downtime. Effective leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills; ability to drive team performance. Basic computer skills (MES, MRP/ERP, spreadsheets, email) and familiarity with production reporting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; works cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Materials, and Maintenance. Ability to work a production shift schedule; flexible to support overtime and shift rotations as needed. Ability to respond to production floor issues and support multiple workstations.
