Job Title:
Bioprocess Supervisor Job Description The Bioprocess Supervisor leads a cGMP manufacturing unit, overseeing people development, day-to-day production execution, and resource management while ensuring strict adherence to quality, safety, and data integrity standards. This role manages a multi-shift bioprocessing operation, coordinates closely with supply chain and quality functions, and drives continuous improvement through metrics, reporting, and robust leadership on the production floor. Responsibilities Serve as the formal supervisor for the bioprocessing unit, providing clear direction, coaching, and ongoing development for direct reports. Manage performance for all team members, including setting expectations, providing feedback, and supporting career development. Ensure all required training is completed, current, and compliant with cGMP and internal standards, and maintain an up-to-date skills matrix for the team. Support daily production execution by ensuring the availability of all necessary resources, including raw materials, equipment, and personnel. Coordinate production schedules with supply chain and other partners to meet operational and delivery targets. Own the unit's cGMP effectiveness and compliance, ensuring all operations follow established procedures and regulatory requirements. Review batch records and other production documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance, and address any discrepancies. Conduct process confirmations on the production floor to verify that operators follow procedures and quality standards, and provide corrective coaching where needed. Assist with deviation investigations, perform or support root cause analysis, and contribute to the implementation and follow-up of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). Own and report Tier 1 operational metrics, ensuring data is accurate, timely, and used to drive performance improvements. Lead Tier 1 daily huddles to review performance, discuss issues, align priorities, and reinforce safety and quality expectations. Lead by example in all safety and biosafety behaviors, promoting a strong safety culture within the unit. Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and biosafety regulations and internal policies. Conduct and/or participate in safety and near-miss investigations, identify contributing factors, and implement follow-up actions. Track safety-related actions for the unit and verify that they are completed and effective. Use electronic systems such as MES, ERP, and QMS to document production activities, deviations, and related records in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure all electronic and paper records comply with ALCOA+ principles for data integrity (attributable, legible, contemporaneous, original, accurate, and more). Collaborate with cross-functional teams in manufacturing, quality, engineering, and supply chain to resolve issues and support continuous improvement. Support a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and teamwork within the manufacturing unit. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in a scientific field such as Animal Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in vaccine, biologics, or sterile cGMP manufacturing. 3-5 years of experience in a cGMP manufacturing environment. Demonstrated leadership capabilities in a production or manufacturing setting. Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a team in a regulated environment. Work Environment This role is based in a cGMP-regulated bioprocessing and sterile manufacturing environment that supports vaccine and biologics production. The operation runs across multiple shifts, and the Bioprocess Supervisor may occasionally work different shifts to support business needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Dodge, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $49.00/hr.
