This role supervises production personnel, ensures compliance with food safety and regulatory standards, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and supports operational goals related to quality, cost, delivery, safety, and morale. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in food manufacturing and a strong understanding of food safety systems, regulatory compliance, and production line leadership. Essential Job Responsibilities Production & Operations Management Oversee daily production activities to ensure schedules are met safely, efficiently, and within quality standards. Plan, assign, and direct work to production employees. Monitor workflow, staffing levels, and line performance to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime. Coordinate line changeovers and collaborate with maintenance to support mechanical reliability. Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to ensure minimal production disruption. Ensure accurate use of inventory management and data collection systems. Food Safety, Quality & Regulatory Compliance Enforce and ensure compliance with: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and SQF requirements Company food safety, sanitation, and quality standards Maintain audit readiness at all times (internal, customer, and third-party audits). Support supplier evaluations and corrective/preventative action initiatives. Review plant sanitation practices and ensure proper documentation. Assist with raw material specifications and microbiological/analytical disposition when applicable. Serve as a liaison during customer or regulatory inspections as needed. Leadership & Workforce Development Supervise, coach, and develop production employees. Conduct employee training on food safety, sanitation, safety procedures, and equipment operation. Manage employee performance, attendance, and disciplinary processes in accordance with company policy. Promote positive employee relations and foster a team-oriented work environment. Support succession planning and skill development within the department. Continuous Improvement & Performance Management Monitor and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including: Productivity Waste reduction Yield Quality metrics Downtime Safety performance Implement corrective and preventative action plans. Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. Balance safety, quality, productivity, cost, and morale to achieve operational excellence. Documentation & Reporting Ensure accurate documentation of: Production data Labor reporting Quality checks Inventory usage Generate and communicate shift reports and daily production summaries. Utilize ERP and data systems (e.g., Comarch, Excel, internal tracking systems) effectively. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Business or Industrial Engineer. Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience required. § Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment required, with demonstrated experience in GMP, HACCP, and food safety compliance. Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulations. Experience operating and troubleshooting production equipment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Experience in beverage manufacturing or high-speed production environments. Experience supporting third-party audits (SQF, BRC, etc.). Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong leadership and team-building skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Quality-oriented with strong attention to detail. Ability to analyze production data and make operational adjustments. Proficient in Microsoft Office and production reporting systems. Physical Demands & Work Environment Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and reach. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in varying temperatures (hot, cold, humid environments). Required to wear appropriate PPE (hairnet, gloves, safety glasses, etc.). Exposure to moderate noise levels. May require overtime, weekend, or holiday work based on production needs.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
