Job Description
Position Summary:
The Finishing Department Manager is responsible for overseeing all finishing operations, ensuring products meet quality standards and production goals. This role involves supervising a team of production employees, monitoring workflow, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures.Key Responsibilities:
Supervise day-to-day operations of the finishing department, including grinding, cleaning, shot blasting, and inspection of castings Plan and assign work to ensure daily production schedules and quality standards are met Train, coach, and evaluate team members; promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement Monitor and maintain equipment performance, coordinate with maintenance for repairs and preventative maintenance Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to company safety policies and OSHA regulations Collaborate with quality control, production, and engineering teams to address defects or process issues Maintain accurate records of production, attendance, and performance metrics Participate in hiring, disciplinary actions, and performance reviews in collaboration with HR Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize throughput, reduce scrap, and improve working conditionsRequired Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or associate degree preferred 1+ years of supervisory or team lead experience Strong understanding of finishing processes such as grinding, sandblasting, or heat treating Knowledge of quality inspection tools and techniques Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Comfortable working in a physically demanding, high-noise environmentPreferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a metal casting environment Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or 5S principles Proficiency in basic computer systems and manufacturing softwareJob Type:
