Job Description

Job Summary:
Do you excel at troubleshooting complex machinery and leading teams to resolve production challenges? If so, we want you as our Lead Machine Technician for the 2-2-3 night shift (5:00 PM - 5:00 AM). In this leadership role, you'll oversee vacuum coating machine operations, mentor and coach your team, and take the lead on technical troubleshooting and production support. You'll drive performance, uphold safety and quality standards, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. 2-2-3
Schedule Overview:
This role follows the 2-2-3 schedule with 12-hour night shifts: Week 1: Work Mon & Tue → Off Wed & Thu → Work Fri, Sat, Sun Week 2: Off Mon & Tue → Work Wed & Thu → Off Fri, Sat, Sun You'll work every other weekend and enjoy built-in days off during the week—while still maintaining full-time hours!
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development Lead and support Machine Technicians during night operations. Coach and mentor team members in technical troubleshooting and professional growth. Provide timely feedback, guidance, and accountability to ensure strong performance and adherence to standards. Foster a culture of ownership, safety, and teamwork. Machine Operations & Oversight Oversee and operate vacuum coating machines, including setup, monitoring, loading/unloading, and cleaning. Monitor sputtering chamber performance and ensure data stays within specification, taking corrective action when needed. Train technicians on proper machine operation, maintenance, and safety procedures. Quality & Process Control Conduct routine quality checks and maintain accurate records. Troubleshoot quality deviations and support process improvement initiatives. Collaborate with other departments to improve product consistency and reduce waste. Safety & Compliance Promote and enforce OSHA and company safety protocols. Conduct safety observations and encourage proactive hazard identification. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout the shift. Communication & Reporting Document shift activities, machine performance, maintenance needs, and quality checks. Ensure clear communication during shift handoffs and with management on team performance and machine status.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities. Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting. Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and developing team members. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, cranes, and forklifts. Strong decision-making skills with the ability to remain effective under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 2 years' experience as a Production Lead, Supervisor, or in a similar production/technical role. Prior experience working on a 2-2-3 or 12-hour rotating shift preferred. Familiarity with sputtering or vacuum coating equipment is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs/ladders during a 12-hour shift. Ability to occasionally lift 50-70 lbs as needed. Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with machinery and production noise.
