Medford, MA About the Opportunity We are a leading regional staffing agency recruiting on behalf of a premier food manufacturing company known for its high-quality, specialty meat products. Our client is looking for an experienced, high-energy Production Supervisor Lead to oversee their PM Shift food production and late-night sanitation activities. This is a permanent position offering long-term stability, career growth, and a dynamic team environment. You will serve as the primary decision-maker on the production floor during your shift, guiding a dedicated team to meet daily goals safely and efficiently. Position Purpose The Production Supervisor Lead oversees all meat and sausage processing activities during the PM shift, ensuring supervisors and production teams meet daily volume targets. This role coordinates staffing, workflow, quality checks, sanitation, and cross-shift communication. You will be key in minimizing equipment downtime, ensuring material readiness, and maintaining an efficient workflow across mixing, grinding, stuffing, and packaging lines. Key Responsibilities Shift Leadership & Coordination (35%): Lead pre-shift huddles to communicate daily targets. Oversee workflow across all production areas and dynamically reassign labor to maintain peak efficiency. Quality & Food Safety Compliance (20%): Monitor product weights every 30 minutes, review label verification forms, and ensure strict adherence to recipe specifications, allergen controls, and QC standards. Operational Support & Troubleshooting (15%): Troubleshoot workflow or equipment issues in real time. Be willing to step in and operate machinery (grinders, stuffers, mixers) when necessary to support the team. Coordinate with maintenance for urgent repairs. Sanitation Leadership (10%): Direct the late-night sanitation team (averaging 8 employees), ensuring all equipment cleaning procedures comply with strict food safety guidelines. Documentation (10%): Complete detailed shift reports, downtime logs, and accurate production summaries for cross-shift handoffs. Training & Coaching (10%): Partner with area supervisors to train new hires on machinery, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and workplace safety.
Job Requirements Experience:
Proven leadership or lead operator background in food manufacturing/processing is strongly preferred, including direct supervision of teams (8-10+ members).
Technical Skills:
Hands-on ability to operate industrial food production machinery (mixers, grinders, stuffers, packaging equipment) or a strong willingness to learn.
Industry Knowledge:
Deep understanding of food safety policies, regulatory compliance, and proper sanitation procedures.
Language:
Bilingual skills ( Spanish-English ) are highly preferred.
Background:
Previous experience in a similar supervisory or team lead capacity. Working Conditions & Physical Demands Must be comfortable working in a cold-room facility environment (approximately 40°F ).
