Job Description
Production Supervisor 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Seaman Paper, headquartered in Leominster, Massachusetts, is a leading global manufacturer of environmentally sustainable specialty paper and packaging solutions. The family-owned company has been making paper in Massachusetts since 1946. Over the last decade, Seaman Paper has grown domestic and global manufacturing operations to meet the needs of their customers worldwide. The company's paper-based, sustainable solutions help customers protect what is most important to them. We are seeking a candidate that possesses strong supervisory, organizational and planning skills and will have demonstrated experience in overseeing a department crew in a production facility. Candidate will be responsible for ensuring that production goals are met and achieved while being mindful of company quality standards. The primary responsibility of this position is to execute the daily/shift production schedule provided by assessing staffing needs and assigning designated personnel where required as well as providing overall direction to the staff in accordance with all company-wide policies and procedures. This candidate will be a key contributor to a strong Safety Culture within the organization.
Responsibilities:
Support and promote company-wide values and objectives. Oversee converting operations on the assigned shift, coordinating cross-functional support to meet production and operational needs. Lead shift changeover communications to ensure smooth and effective transitions between shifts. Direct shift setup, including staffing levels, schedule requirements, and material readiness. Ensure production goals are achieved while managing shift capacity, assets, and flexibility. Identify, document, and communicate quality issues in real time, escalating to the Quality Director, Plant Manager, and relevant Managers as appropriate to ensure timely containment and corrective action. Assist Group Leaders in resolving staffing, production, and quality concerns. Perform order set-ups and first-piece quality inspections when required. Participate in the Company Safety Committee and lead weekly or as-needed safety briefings. Foster and reinforce a strong safety culture across the shift. Manage and direct all shift personnel, to include on-going skills assessment and training. Track, record, and report daily production metrics. Ensures accurate review, correction, and timely approval of employee timecards each pay period. Actively monitors employee attendance and unexcused time and communicates issues in accordance with company policy. Partner with management to establish expectations and accountability for shift employees. Identify and address training needs for shift personnel. Work closely with Plant Manager and Human Resources to address employee relations issues or grievances. Unlock and secure the facility as required and ensure incoming calls are answered during the assigned shift. Perform other duties assigned from time to time. Qualifications Valid driver's license required. Ability to obtain and maintain forklift and hoisting certifications. CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience:
Proven experience as a Production Supervisor or Production Leader in a manufacturing environment. 1-3 years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred. Working knowledge of personnel supervision, policy enforcement, and progressive discipline documentation. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and communicate instructions verbally, in writing, and via schedules. Intermediate computer skills, including email, database activity and spreadsheets. Demonstrated commitment to safety compliance and enforcement. Ability to lead by example, build accountability, and motivate teams through knowledge sharing and coaching. Must be able to create accountability and provide leadership to others through example and sharing knowledge and skills.Work Authorization:
