Global Supply Chain Group Leader Location:
Orion, MI Schedule:
1st Shift | Monday-Friday | 6:00 AM - 2:30
PM Travel:
Extensive travel during initial 12-week training program; minimal travel thereafter Position Overview We are seeking a Global Supply Chain Group Leader to support manufacturing operations by leading hourly production teams, driving operational performance, and ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved. This position serves as a frontline manufacturing leader responsible for developing employees, improving production processes, and fostering a high-performing team environment within a union manufacturing setting. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain leadership experience within a world-class manufacturing organization while contributing directly to production success and continuous improvement initiatives. Training Program Selected candidates may participate in a comprehensive 12-week training program during the first three months of employment. Training may take place at various manufacturing locations, including: Lansing Delta Township, MI Flint, MI Fort Wayne, IN Arlington, TX Other designated locations as determined by the business Travel accommodations will be provided. Upon successful completion of training, the position will be based in Orion, Michigan. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Development Directly supervise and lead a team of hourly production employees Coach, mentor, and develop team members to maximize performance and engagement Conduct training and ensure employees receive proper job instruction and development Support performance management, attendance management, and employee relations activities Foster a positive team culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement Manufacturing Operations Lead daily production activities to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) objectives Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions when necessary Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, downtime issues, and operational challenges Support launch activities, pilot programs, and production initiatives Drive lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement efforts Ensure adherence to standardized work processes and operational procedures Safety & Quality Promote and maintain a safe working environment Support ergonomic, housekeeping, and workplace safety initiatives Ensure compliance with quality standards and production requirements Communicate departmental goals and performance expectations Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues Labor Relations & Communication Build strong working relationships with employees, union representatives, and leadership teams Serve as the primary bridge between the hourly workforce and management Support administration of applicable labor agreements and workplace policies Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum of 2 years of direct people leadership experience in a manufacturing, operations, logistics, or related environment Experience supervising hourly employees and driving team performance Proven ability to work within structured processes and operational workflows Strong communication, coaching, and leadership skills Demonstrated problem-solving ability with a root cause analysis mindset Strong sense of accountability, ownership, and operational excellence Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment Automotive manufacturing experience Experience in aerospace, heavy manufacturing, logistics, or similar production environments Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies Experience managing production metrics and operational performance indicators Top Skills Direct Supervisory Experience Experience leading hourly employees in a production environment Union experience preferred Manufacturing / Operations Experience Experience achieving production targets and performance metrics Understanding of production flow, downtime reduction, and bottleneck management Problem-Solving & Accountability Root cause analysis experience Strong ownership mentality and decision-making skills Why Consider This Opportunity?
