Production Supervisor 4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars Saline, MI D&D Recruit 13 reviews D&D Recruit are looking for a Production Supervisor to join our client in the automotive manufacturing industry, this role is based in Saline, Michigan. Position Summary The Production Supervisor is to manage the production of performance, personnel issues and health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standard of several Gaps.
Responsibilities QCDP Performance:
Make sure QCD indicators reflect customer expectations. Define, together with the supervisors of the other shifts and the UAP manager, QCDP targets for the GAPs (improvement versus actual situation): ppm, pph, TRS, absenteeism, number of accidents, improvement ideas, etc. Monitor performance during the shift and report data at the end of the shift.
Manage resources to reach results:
adapt headcount to volume, etc. React in case of a problem: take care of immediate containment, call support functions, build corrective action plans. Receive daily line KATA with GAP Leader/operators. Replace GAP leader when necessary.
Drive actions for improvement:
Know team problems, seek feedback Define area for performance improvements Drive teamwork and problem-solving activities, lead Problem Solving Groups, and workshops (5S, Hoshin, TPM, SMED, 8 Quality Basics, etc.) Drive improvement ideas generation and implementation Ensure audits of standardized work are conducted by GAP leaders on a daily basis and ensure corrective actions are taking place Audits once a week with each GAP Leader the respect of standardized work Aims to devote 30% of his/her time to improvement actions Define threshold and escalation of reaction modes to problems within their supervisory zone. Update electronic KPI's on daily basis.
People Management:
Leading by example in terms of rigor and discipline. Assure daily management. Permanent presence on the shop floor: daily contact with all team members, close management of the lines.
Manage headcount:
plan the day before people allocation for the next day, plan also on a weekly basis. Manage timekeeping in eTIME daily Coach GAP Leaders and team members in how to perform their role. Support and help to fix problems. Ensure discipline and rigor (work wear, break times, working hours) Ensure the respect of HSE instructions, policies, and procedures. Development of the team. Participate in the selection and recruitment of line employees (Gap leader, operators, rework ops). Ensure proper induction of new operators on the line Build training plan to increase team autonomy; ensure training and coaching of team members. Plan development of the people (validation and support from UAP manager and Human Resources Manager when appropriate): training, job evolution, etc. Validation of polyvalence.
Ensure recognition upon individual performance:
take part of the decision process. Ensure proper flow of information to and from the team: Top 5 with GAP Leaders, regular information meetings, rapid cascade of critical information, and of messages from management.
Teamwork:
Ensure transparent timely communication with UAP manager and internal customers. Arrive before start of shift to ensure transfer of all information from the supervisor of previous shift. Participate with supervisory colleagues to improvement of UAP performance. Participate to UAP Top 5 and report line performance, successes, and issues as well as action initiated. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Responsible for immediate stopping of a line in case of HSE risks. Lead HSE core teams and drive implementation to follow. Drive improvement of working conditions and ergonomics. Support commitments established in the

Integrated Policy. Conform to requirements established in Saline

Position Specifications Authorities:
Issue disciplinary actions to operators/GAP Leaders based on company rules and policies; including, but not limited to suspend employees. Approve/deny Paid absences based on business needs. Stop the line to protect operators and customers from potential harm or quality issues Reject suspect material coming to the line. Make independent quality calls based on boundary sample (i.e absence of Quality Mgr. or QE). Escalate line KATA to
HP QRCI 8D.
Go into backup mode when poka yoke cannot be fixed in a timely manner. Go into backup mode when mechanical failure. Flex employees out based on customer performance. Implement rewards and recognition based on performance. Sound alarm for natural disaster/security breaches/fire. Ensure the HSE Management System (HSEMS) requirements are established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with the
ISO 14001/45001
