VP of Operations Position Overview The Production Manager oversees all daily manufacturing operations for a three‑shift polyethylene pipe extrusion facility. This role is responsible for production scheduling, personnel leadership, raw material procurement, compliance documentation, and maintaining third‑party certifications. The ideal candidate has hands‑on manufacturing experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to lead a small but fast‑moving production team. Key Responsibilities Production Planning & Operations Develop and manage the daily production schedule for three shifts , ensuring efficient use of equipment, labor, and materials. Monitor production output, scrap, downtime, and quality metrics; implement corrective actions when needed. Maintain safe, clean, and organized production areas in accordance with company and regulatory standards. Leadership & Personnel Management Supervise and support shift leads and production employees, providing coaching, performance feedback, and training. Ensure proper staffing levels across all shifts and assist with hiring and onboarding of production personnel. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Procurement & Inventory Control Negotiate pricing and terms for resins, colorants, packaging, and production supplies. Place purchase orders and maintain adequate raw material and supply inventory. Conduct monthly physical inventory counts of raw materials and consumables; annual physical of finished goods. Compliance, Certification & Quality Assurance Maintain all documentation required for NSF compliance, including batch records, traceability logs, and quality checks. Lead NSF quarterly audits, ensuring the facility meets all certification requirements. Ensure all calibration devices (e.g., micrometers, ultrasonic gauges, scales) are certified and maintained by approved third‑party providers. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality and process control. Equipment & Process Oversight Collaborate with maintenance personnel to ensure extrusion lines and downstream equipment operate reliably. Assist in troubleshooting extrusion issues related to resin blends, temperatures, tooling, and line speed. Recommend process improvements to enhance throughput, reduce scrap, and improve product consistency. Qualifications 3-5+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership; plastic extrusion or polyethylene pipe experience strongly preferred. Working knowledge of production scheduling, quality systems, and inventory management. Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing purchase orders. Strong understanding of safety practices and regulatory compliance. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work on‑site and support a multi‑shift operation.
