Your Opportunity The position summary states the general nature and purpose of the job. Overall accountabilities are defined in this section. Accountable for implementing production system requirements through a team of Production Managers and Production Specialists, emphasis in sow production, including Profit & Loss responsibility and continuous improvements in production efficiencies while maintaining focus on low cost production results. Core Responsibilities Responsible for accomplishing the mission and goals of Smithfield Hog Production. Responsible for all associated strategic planning and goal development. Responsible for the financial and operating (production and support) performance of the assigned business unit. Responsible for all support operations of the assigned business unit. Responsible for all public, governmental, and environmental affairs associated with Smithfield Hog Production Business Unit. Responsible for the employees of SHP business unit. Responsible for duties associated with SHP business unit as assigned by the Regional General Manager. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions. Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Animal Science or a business related field and 10+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required. 5+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development is required. Current and valid driver's license with acceptable MVR. Proven emphasis and success in Sow production. Demonstrated history of successful production and leadership. PQA certification. Must be available to work nights and weekend when necessary. Must be available for occasional travel. Must understand that Smithfield Hog Production is a producer of high-quality pork for human consumption and must be supportive of the mission of raising swine for meat. Ability to communicate effectively with external and internal customers. Ability to develop Standard Operating Procedures and training material. Proven written and oral communication skills. Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Access, Internet and Pigknows knowledge are preferred. Must be able to work under stress. Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment. Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
