Job Description

Big River Forest Products in Gloster, Mississippi is searching for a Night Shift Green End Supervisor. This role will be accountable for the sawmill production by managing staff, participating in the overall administration of ensuring safety, process, procedures, policies, production and accountable for metrics and planer performance on a day-to-day basis. The ideal individual will have strong leadership skills and ability to get work done through others. Responsibilities Assist the Green End Superintendent in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Green End Department. Assist in promoting a continuous improvement culture through communication and coaching employees as well as finding opportunities for streamlining production activities and enhancing value-added processes. Demonstrate strong leadership and training by leading manufacturing principles and events with supervision. Strengthen, develop, and motivate staff by managing responsibilities and ensuring accountability. Continually sharpen the professional skills of team members. Ensures safe work practices, follows safety procedures, and completes required safety forms, checklists and permits. Provide ideas, innovation and suggestions for continuous improvement and opportunities. Ensure quality standards and order specifications are met throughout the manufacturing process of the wide range of products. Other Duties as needed. Required Skills Degree in a related field preferred but not required. Previous experience in a manufacturing/ lumber or wood products environment and leadership experience required. Previous experience in leadership, supervision and management of personnel is required. Knowledge of manufacturing equipment, procedures, and production/quality standards Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with and motivate a diverse group of employees. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Basic computer skills Must be able to read a tape measure. Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen.
Environmental Conditions:
Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions. Comfortable working in loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
