None Description:
The Production Supervisor manages all operators and production activities on the plant floor during their designated shift. He/she is responsible for meeting shift targets for scheduled production of CLT and related components. This role will be the direct supervisor for each operator at each machine center, with >90% of his/her time spent on the factory floor overseeing operations and lending guidance and support where needed. The Production Supervisor contributes to the success of SmartLam North America by ensuring scheduled work is produced on-time, within budgetary constraints, with the highest quality and uncompromising safety.Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads, trains, and develops machine center operators and support staff to build effective, engaged, and high-performing production teams Creates a positive and accountable team culture through clear communication, coaching, recognition, and hands-on leadership Operates with transparency and professionalism, earning trust at all levels through consistent communication and actions Ensures operators have the information, tools, training, and resources necessary to safely meet production and quality expectations Motivate employees to achieve production goals while maintaining strong morale, teamwork, and operational focus Communicates effectively with Project Managers, Maintenance, and Plant Leadership regarding production status, scheduling, operational priorities, and potential risks Quickly identifies and raises awareness of quality, safety, equipment, or schedule concerns that could impact production or customers Maintains strong collaboration with the Maintenance Team to support equipment reliability and minimize downtime Ensures production is carried out safely, efficiently, and with a high standard of quality at all times Promotes and enforces all safety policies and procedures while maintaining a safe working environment through leadership and accountability Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and cost reduction, and supports implementation of improvement initiatives Support recruiting, retention, and performance management by participating in hiring, fostering a positive work environment, and implementing employee development plans. Addresses employee concerns and resolves problems in a fair, constructive, and professional manner Maintains strong personal attendance and accountability standards while holding team members to the same expectationsRequired Skills & Experience:
Technical working knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment, both mechanical and electrical. Must have 3+ years of experience supervising a diverse team in a manufacturing environment, preferably wood processing. High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical or College degree preferred. Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a diverse production team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Creative problem solver Required organizational skills in time management, attention to detail, and multitasking Experience in training employees in safety and operational procedures. Working knowledge of computers and MS Office Suite and ability to learn new programs with ease. Skilled in maintaining a well-balanced workplace and addressing personnel issues effectively. Ability to obtain an understanding of product standards includingAPA-PRG-320
Ability to obtain an understanding of all manufacturing and related SOPs associated with their supervisory duties Demonstrates effectiveness in high-pressure situations while meeting tight deadlines. Self-motivated and operates with minimal supervision. Capable of fostering a positive work environment.
