Full-time, Permanent Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Mill Manager/Supervisor with sawmill experience to lead and oversee operations at our well-established hardwood lumber company. The facility processes logs into grade hardwood lumber on a single shift, and this role requires expertise in managing all aspects of sawmill operations, from production efficiency to safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership:
Ensure a safe work environment by enforcing safety protocols and fostering a safety-first culture.
Operational Excellence:
Continuously improve sawmill performance through planning, action, and analysis of results.
Team Development:
Mentor and train staff, promoting open communication and respect among team members.
Quality Control:
Monitor manufacturing, grading, tallying, packing, and shipping to maintain high-quality standards.
Maintenance Oversight:
Schedule and execute regular maintenance, including replacing wear items (bearings, chains, motors, etc.). Collaborate with millwrights to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Oversee large-scale repairs and projects, such as equipment installation, fabrication, and welding.
Regulatory Compliance:
Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and ensure the facility adheres to all safety and operational guidelines.
Flexibility:
Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of Management experience is mandatory. Ideally in the Sawmill Industry but will consider other industries and management experience.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in common mill maintenance tasks. Familiarity with NHLA hardwood lumber grading rules (preferred but not required). Experience troubleshooting electrical systems (preferred).
Leadership:
Proven ability to coach and develop a team in a high-demand work environment
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$70,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
