ASME Welding Shop Supervisor Location:
Bloomfield, NM Company Size:

Equipment Manufacturing / Fabrication C & J Equipment Manufacturing is a full-service fabrication company established in 1978. We are seeking an experienced ASME Welding Shop Supervisor to oversee welding and hydro testing operations in our ASME Code welding shop. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on welding and fabrication knowledge, experience supervising welders, and a solid understanding of ASME Code work, pressure vessel fabrication, and piping. This role requires a dependable leader who can help schedule work, support production deadlines, maintain quality standards, and guide a team of skilled welders in a busy shop environment. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily welding operations Manage, train, and support a team of skilled welders Schedule work for yourself and your team to meet production needs Ensure welding work meets quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable ASME Code requirements Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications Help coordinate projects, priorities, and schedules to meet deadlines Communicate with production, quality, engineering, and management teams as needed Identify and help resolve production, quality, or scheduling challenges as they arise Maintain a safe, organized, and productive shop environment Perform additional duties as needed Required Qualifications Knowledge of ASME Code, pressure vessel fabrication, and piping required Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Experience training, leading, and supervising welders Strong communication and leadership skills Excellent time management and organizational skills Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel Ability to prioritize work and support multiple projects or deadlines Strong problem-solving skills and attention to quality and safety Preferred Qualifications Previous supervisory experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment Experience working with ASME pressure vessels, piping, or related code work Familiarity with welding procedures, weld documentation, and quality requirements Ideal Candidate The successful candidate is a hands-on leader who understands welding, fabrication, and the importance of meeting quality and schedule requirements. This person should be comfortable working on the shop floor, communicating with welders and other departments, solving problems as they arise, and helping ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on time. Physical Requirements Ability to work in a manufacturing/shop environment Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb as needed throughout the workday Ability to safely navigate production areas, including around equipment, tools, materials, and moving machinery Ability to inspect weldments, piping, vessels, and assemblies at various stages of production Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Ability to use hands and arms to handle, measure, inspect, or document parts and components Ability to visually inspect work, materials, welds, and documentation for accuracy and defects Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toe boots, and other PPE as required Ability to work in areas that may include noise, dust, fumes, heat, cold, and other conditions common to a manufacturing environment Ability to sit, use a computer, and complete documentation for extended periods as needed
